most out-of-conference games. I pretty much hate every team in the SEC, so why pretend to want them to win in a bowl game? The SEC isn't some big happy/dysfunctional family. It's the Serengeti plain, where the weakest gets devoured by cheetahs. I'll be damned if I'm going to cheer the cheetahs on.

We compete against these schools every year. They wanted Crooms to stick around too (especially Auburn fans, who at the same time claim they are badass and understand what it's like to suck like we did). Until strength of schedule has a real impact on what happens in MSU's postseason, our fellow SEC schools can lose every game as far as I care.

I have to agree. Also, they don't pull for MSU in bowl games. I guarantee you that.

Nor should they, but at the same time, they shouldn't ask or expect for us to pull them in the same situation.

I know I've told the story about the Bama fan I ran into after we beat them in 1996. He told me in all seriousness that we should be upset that we won because Alabama had a better chance to win the SEC Championship Game for the West that LSU or whoever was in contention at that time.

When we do go to a bowl and win, I have no problem chanting SEC! SEC! not because I feel like we did something to promote the conference- although we incidintally did- but because we played a typically much more difficult schedule than whoever we beat.

But we have a different perspective on appreciating success. We have a certainty that SEC superiority will benefit us each season.

Miami, well actually I'm jealous here. Small school, gets beaten up by the NCAA and still comes back and plays for the NC.
Notre Dame for being able to have some sort of exception to the rule for bowl games and in general being the epitomy of the term 'exception to the rule'.
BYU for producing that Chicago bear cockeyed sumbich, being given the NC for beating a 6-5 michigan team and for bringing those bastard refs to my hometown.

And yes. I wish we had their winning traditions too.
