The SEC must have warned State about cowbells.

The candy assed segment of fans we've got have their sphincters drawn up tight again. Bitches! We're 💯 percent back when people are worried we're going to beat that ***! Lebby has flipped this thing fast and nobody wants to play in Starkville again. Welcome back football! We've missed you baby!

No, it is correct. They just don't enforce it much. You better believe they will this week.
No, it’s not correct. It’s not enforced for non conference games because it’s a rule for conference games only. They will enforce it this week because it’s a conference game.

You are incorrect on this one. The rule is a SEC rule not NCAA.

Edit to say, i think you are incorrect. ... It is an SEC rule though, not an NCAA rule.

But we're an SEC team. I suppose the SEC can control (to an extent) fan behavior of all its teams in all games.

I would not doubt if we hear from Texas the week they come to Starkville. They have ruined every conference they have been a member of.

The commissioners regulations say the maximum fine for violation if the noise rule is $50,000. We've been fined two or three times already over the years, so we would be fined $50,000. Violations are reviewed and assessed at the end of the year. Losing the cowbell completely would require the ADs to vote to change the bylaws.

I'm uncertain if the cowbell rules apply to nonconference games or not. The noise maker ban is expressly limited to games between conference members, but the institutionally controlled noise rules apply to all games.

I suppose we would argue, in non conference games, our cowbells are not subject to the institutionally controlled noise rules since they are just regular noise makers, which are allowed at non conference games.

The bell ringing at the Arizona state game was egregious. Our people wanted that game badly and did not give a damn. The bell resting was a little better v NIL but the crowd was small and unenthusiastic.

I'll be honest, if I was Tennessee and watched the Az st game, I would have filed a complaint.
And the ASU coach didn't complain like a little *****. He actually congratulated us on a great atmosphere. Kind of like Kiffin already bitching about having OU instead of Vandy.

There is no rule against ringing cowbells for non-conference games. Only SEC games.

If the University does not get this under control, we run the risk of having them banned again. Don't ring it while the center is over the ball, You can yell all you want during that time and the stadium stays almost as loud.
As soon as the center puts his hand on the ball, stop ringing and start yelling. When he snaps go back to ringing.

If I were the SEC and wanted to stop the "un-timely" ringing I'd drop a flag and penalize the team 15 yards. One 15yd penalty would be way more effective than a $50K fine and have longer lasting effects.

The SEC doesn't control what gets flagged during a football game, conference game or not.

It’s been said several times already, but if I was Tennessee’s AD and I saw the ASU game I would have called the league office too.

It's been a while since there's been enough enthusiasm for it to be obvious, but the transition from the cowbells to crowd noise when the center gets over the ball is kinda cool.

One of the worst violations of the rule I remember was of all things the Vanderbilt game in 2014. It was already a rout, and we got called for a nonsense PI. Mullen went nuts, and so did the crowd, and the cowbell compromise was ignored the rest of the drive.

The SEC tried that back before the "Cowbell Compromise" The refs did not like having the responsibility to police the fans. Then the NCAA abolished the old "excessive noise" rule, and eventually told the SEC it couldn't have its own on field penalty for noisemakers.

When I was looking up the SEC bylaws, I read on one website that a coach could complain to the refs about noise being played while the center was over the ball, then the ref could issue a warning, and eventually a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. But I couldn't find anything verifying that procedure.

And what head football coach wants to be a ***** and whine to the refs, unless they really cannot get their signals called

They fined us $500K for storming the field against a non conference opponent, so I think you're right.

It’s been said several times already, but if I was Tennessee’s AD and I saw the ASU game I would have called the league office too.
And every AD should complain about the fact that UT pumps crowd noise through the speakers. Pretty obvious when you are there.

The games this year the rules have been completely ignored. If that doesn't change they will be banned again and with the level of security now there won't be any sneaking them in.
The games so far this year don’t matter since they’ve all been non-conference.

The SEC has a fine structure in place and the school will get fined if we don’t ring responsibly. Our last fine was in 2017 (I think) and we got fined twice that season.

The State tweets say “our tradition depends on it”, so I am willing to guarantee our AD got a call from Birmingham

The ring responsibly ads/videos/messages have always said that.

Dámn, it’s been a LONG time since we’ve scared this league. Our own fans don’t even remember what it was like in 2014…

Oh, I remember. I also think the rest of the league would not hesitate to hammer us if we start winning and don’t follow the rules on this

There was nothing to give a damn about.
