the LA Tech game might be moved to Shreveport. Does that make any difference on your decision to attend the game?

it sure makes a helluva big difference in shutting down the absolute **** we've been getting from UM people counteracting their 'jonesboro moment.' it would give me great pleasure to know that was taken away from them.

Shreveport - Coach34 might actually go to his first MSU football game in 5 years.

Well, Shreveport >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>than Ruston. Plus, the Indy Bowl is a nicer venue than Joe Aillet Stadium. I've never seen a game there to be honest, but I have seen many games at Madison Central.

I hope this rumor is true for another reason- if we play La. Tech in Ruston, it will be one of the biggest games in their schools history. They will be all fired up, while this is an opponent "we're supposed to beat", and I need not remind anyone how explosive our offense is.

I asked Wardlaw about this yesterday at the bin, and noone seems to know anything. I absolutely hope it is true, as the thought of having to go play at La Tech has made me furious since LT announced it.

But, i don't see it happening..due to the economics of it. Sure, we will bring a crowd that will hard fill the La Tech home stadium, and they know this and thus are giving us all the tickets we can sell. the problem comes in the moving, In a different venue, how many more people would have to show for the venue to make money. Many factors weigh against it, from it being in Louisiana where we don't have a huge alumni, the problem in the opponent being a smaller non-drawing school and we aren't top echelon ourselves, and with the factors of gas rising..less people will travel to away games likely.

we were still changing the dates of games. I would think a venue change like this would be pretty easy.

I did not mean to offend your homosexuality. I apologize with the fervent heat from the friction of a million politically correct homos pridefully marching naked through the streets of San Francisco.

being in Louisiana where we don't have a huge alumni
perhaps a bonus of moving to shreveport is that it's closer to dallas and houston, where we have lots of alumni. that's one reason jackie wanted to play texas and later, u of h. this surely wouldn't be the main reason for moving though. i wonder if la tech has a larger alumni base in shreveport.

Would it be? I take that as another negative, first off would ESPN rather have a packed fullhouse on campus or a half full Indy bowl for a gameday atmosphere. Also on the case of ESPN, its espn..everyone in america has it. ..meaning some people could decide to save the trip money and watch it on the tube.

I had forgotten about the State-Tulane game I suffered through here in Shreveport. I had tried to block that game out of my mind it was so terrible. This will be the 2nd game of the Crooms Era I will attend.

I would love it being here in Shreve. The tailgate we would have would be 3 times as good, and then going out after would be alot more fun.

There have been no discussions whatsoever about moving this game to Shreveport. That would be a devastating blow to Tech's marketing effort for this game. State will be the first SEC opponent to play in Joe Aillet Stadium, ever. And it will also be the first time that JAS has been sold out, ever.

So, I say again, the game will not be played in Shreveport.

(I love the countdown at the top of the page, by the way. Very accurate.)

i gotta think more people would actually make the trip if it's in shreveport. it's not that much further (an hour on the interstate), and there are actually places to stay (casinos) and things to do (casinos). granted, it's no attractive vacation hotspot, but i'm sure few state fans were planning on spending a couple of days in ruston.

if i were la tech, i would only consider moving if i'm making more money. otherwise, i want the national coverage to come to my campus, and show the "biggest game in ruston" in a long time (or whatever they'll call it).

So why not just stay in Shreveport and drive to Ruston on Saturday for the game? Don't people do this all the time in your state (i.e., stay in Tunica, drive to Oxford for the game on Saturday)?

I'm more likely to go simply because it is an hour closer for me. I can easily make it a day trip over for the game and drive back after either way, but Ruston is a **** hole town. I may end up going either way since this will be the closest MSU has been since I moved to Ft. Worth. Shreveport would be a lot more tempting than Ruston though.

Considering that Mississippi State isn't located in Oxford, that wouldn't make much sense.

I said, "in your state," referring to the state of Mississippi. I didn't specifically reference Mississippi State.

just wondering why if they're going to do it now they didn't go ahead and do it earlier. When we changed the date of a game it was for a reason.

They had a home game scheduled with Nebraska and many people expected them to move the game from their 32,000 seat stadium in Hattiesburg to the 60,000 seat stadium in Jackson. They wisely chose to keep the game on campus, pretty much forcing their fans to buy season tickets if they wanted to see the Nebraska game.

Maybe Byrne is dreading a Saturday night in Ruston as much as we are. Byrne took over last week, so maybe he jumped right on it...

I think that was in Shreveport. I seem to remember it being billed as Brock Berlin's return home.

In a way I'd like LA Tech to know that we don't appreciate or like having to play at their place. On the other hand, it probably helps the school to show a strong contingent of traveling fans.
