in reverse to go back in time and reschedule the game for Shreveport but that he has been too busy reserving hotel rooms in omaha, ne every june from now until the end of the world (the date of which only byrne knows because he will be the one to end it once msu has won every single ncaa title for 100 years in a row).

kind of like when we used to play Mississippi Southern down there and they kicked our asses for looking down our respective noses at them.

The A&M, Miami, Oklahoma St. and California games for Tech have all been in Shreveport. None of the bigger schools would come to Ruston except for us. Joe Aillet Stadium holds about 30K. Hopefully we will fill more than half the stands.

I'm more likely to go simply because it is an hour closer for me. I can easily make it a day trip over for the game and drive back after either way, but Ruston is a **** hole town. I may end up going either way since this will be the closest MSU has been since I moved to Ft. Worth. Shreveport would be a lot more tempting than Ruston though.

Sure are alot of pompus cunts on this board. You're going to say that Ruston is a **** hole.. Like Starkville is a beacon of economic prosperity? You're the worst team in the SEC, get over yourselves.

I haven't been to Ruston in decades, so it could be Austin on I-20, but I really doubt it. Secondly, we're more like the 10th or 9th best team in the SEC, not the worst -- that team resides a little north of Starkville. Third, even if we were the worst team in the SEC, that's still better than 90% of the teams in the...what the hell conference are you in??

That would be good for you then. You know, if Ole Miss were to accomplish something on the gridiron or the diamond in say, the MODERN ERA of college athletics, Greg could throw you a bone and give you a hotel room in Omaha.

Ole Miss, we can call them hippies because most of their fans still live in the 60s.

That's probably a bit of an exaggeration. But the #8 team in the SEC is 2-0 against the CUSA champs in the current Liberty Bowl setup.

Starkville >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than Ruston.

Starkville used to be pretty blah, but there has been a LOT of devleopment, and while it's not Athens, Georgia, it's a decent college town, and decent is an upgrade from where it was, and it continues to get better every time I go back.

If someone cleaned up Ruston, it would improve the town significantly. That's my problem with it- it's nasty.

.....ugly, inexcusably close game and barely pull out a win, or we flat out embarrass the SEC and flat out lose. I've had this awkward feeling ever since we scheduled this ridiculous road game to begin the season.

Seriously, there is not a dimes worth of difference between Ruston, Starkville, Oxford, or any number of other towns in the south. I have lived in Ruston and Starkville and they are very similiar. Neither have a lot to do but are both nice places to live. Why the hate?

I don't understand all the hate for Ruston. It is very similar to Starkville or Oxford, probably moreso than any other town in the SEC (I've never been to Auburn though).

I was in Ruston yesterday. Very nice town with friendly people. Their Old Waverly is called Squire Creek (#1 course in LA by Golf Digest). Impressive mountain biking park called Lincoln Parish Park. The economy is similar to Starkville with same type stores, cinemas, restaurants, etc. La Tech has a planetarium for the kiddies. North Louisiana hospital is similar to Oktibbeha County hospital. La Tech isn't as big as MSU but it does have some engineering departments that could compete with MSU. They also have a school of architecture. Their athletic facilties aren't as nice as MSU because they don't have the fan support. There are many fans of other schools (LSU mainly) in Ruston; it's the same problem USM has in Hattiesburg. It is not "nasty" as another poster said and not a bad place to raise a family. As far as "things to do", go to Shreveport; Starkville isn't really a hub of activity either.

Nope- maybe their professors are better or something, but nowhere close in terms of research and national prominence.

Welcome. Since you are a **** yourself, you should have no problems.
You're going to say that Ruston is a **** hole
Yep, thought I made that clear but just in case....Ruston is a S-H-I-T H-O-L-E town.
Like Starkville is a beacon of economic prosperity?
I never said this nor did I imply it. I merely commented that Ruston is a S-H-I-T H-O-L-E.
You're the worst team in the SEC, get over yourselves.
No we are not, we are like 9th or 10th. How is life in WAC?

Starkville is more like Monroe, not Ruston...and we are the worst offense in the SEC, not the worst team...You'll figure that out when our defense outscores your team in your ******** little stadium

Hold on a second...State Engineering and La Tech Engineering does not even need to be mentioned in the same sentence. You should of just said they have an Engineering school and left it at that.

Someone from Natchez saying that Ruston sucks should be taken as a compliment from anyone that lives in Ruston. Look, there is not a lot to do in Ruston. It is a good place to live but not a good place to go on vacation or visit for the weekend because there is not a lot to do. But there is just as much to do as there is in Starkville. I don't blame people for not going to that game. But saying Ruston is a "********" is a little over the top.

Ruston is a nice little town with a nice little University. That is about it.

Than C-USA. They have 2 BCS appearances (and one victory) in a couple of years, anyway. I know, that doesn't speak to the strength of the conference as a whole, but it's more than C-USA can say.

Hey Cowturd...

Glad to see you still an ***...

If Ruston is a ********, then I guess S-Vegas is a Port-a-john...

Neither town is really worth visiting unless you are going to a ballgame.
How many people take a vacation and go to Starkville?

First of all, I was simply offering my opinion of the town, which is that it is a big steaming S-H-I-T H-O-L-E of a town. If you don't like my opinion, I don't care.
If Ruston is a ********, then I guess S-Vegas is a Port-a-john...

Secondly, for the life of me, I can't figure out why you and the douche from Tech insist on aligning my view of Ruston and S'Vegas. Not once have a said a thing about the quality of Starkville. aGAIN, all I have said (and which I will now repeat) is that I think Ruston is a <17>'in S-H-I-T H-O-L-E. I stand by that assertion, but if you disagree with that fine. I don't give a <17>.

Personally I care less about what anyone thinks about Ruston.

But you know I do like to ruffle your feathers, it's just too damn easy...

Straight up...

An you're correct, there is NO chance of this game moving to Shreveport. I don't really understand all the posts intended to belittle Ruston. Most of them likely come from folks who've never spent much time in Ruston or have only seen it from the Interstate. Ruston is a great little college town and we Tech grads love it (for the most part). I'm sure we feel the same about Ruston as most of you feel about Starkville.

Show up early and tailgate. The fans are friendly and the atmosphere will be great. There are plenty of places to stay in Monroe or Shreveport. If you need any advice, I'll be glad to help you out if I can.

This cowtown guy is a trip...do y'all claim him?
