There Have Been Lots Of Close Calls Against Inferior Opponents Under Beamer

In Beamer's first season, it took end of the game field goals to beat Vanderbilt and East Carolina (ECU on the road). We also struggled against Troy that season. Last year, it took an interception returned for a touchdown, near the end of the game, to beat Jax State. And of course, last night we struggled against Old Dominion. Close games against inferior opponents are going to happen occasionally. But that often? That does not inspire confidence that the Head Coach knows what he is doing. It's a "red flag" alert. Shane Beamer appears to be a nice guy. But he does seem to get defensive and testy at times when getting tough questions whether it be about a game or a hire. However, he gets paid over $6 million/year and that comes with the territory, something he should anticipate and accept. All in all, he seems to be a nice guy. But, does he have the "it" factor to be a good Head Coach? The number of close calls under Shane Beamer should put the hiring authorities here in a DEFCON state of mind.

Only if those in authority give a crap. I think that might be the problem.

Makes me wonder are they really inferior??? Outside of the 2022 UT/Clemson games where has a Beamer team been great??? We beat A&M and Kentucky due to their awful injuries.

Under Beamer we really shined for 14 days, those 2 weeks to end 2022. Otherwise its been close calls vs mediocre or bad opponents, beating some injury plagued teams who are normally good, and getting hammered by the elite ones.

If UT and Clemson had won in 2022 as they were expected to, I wonder if Beamer would still be here?

Outside of those two games, there really isn't a quality win.
