If Nussmeyer actually had an opportunity to tackle the Emannwori and really got blocked like most defenders do, then what?
Just a dumb call by the official as it had no impact on the play, and it was a girly block anyway.

To make matters worse , if we beat LSU like we SHOULD have and beat Bama like we COULD have , Georgia beating Tenn Saturday night would have clinched our spot in the SEC Championship vs the winner of Texas/A&M

If we handle Wofford like we should and pull off what would be an upset against Clemson, I like our chances of being the first team out.
I'm not sold on the notion that beating Clemmons would be an "upset" in any way, shape, or form at this point.

Wouldn't even be surprised if we were favored. Not arguing with you Blues man, just saying.....

I have my doubts about us being flavored at their place in two weeks but I'd be ok with it.

The call was bad, cost us the game, are we the only program to lose on a bad call, NO, just ask BYU.
Nothing can be done to change the outcome.
It's time to move on and move forward.

And the bad calls did not cause us to blow our initial 17-0 lead. We made other mistakes in the game prior to that that took points off the board for us.

I was disappointed in the officiating in many of the SEC games I watched this year. I know the game is so fast these days and the zebras can’t be perfect but I think they made a lot of bad calls all season. I prefer when they let the kids play and only flag the obvious infractions. Also, I hate it when a penalty call directly affects the outcome of the game. That’s what happened against LSU.

It was actually 3 big bad calls…but who’s counting….LSU was a game that I truly felt was rigged.

I predict "the LSU game" will get shelved up there with "the Navy game" in Gamecock football history. Alabama beat us. Sure, we gave them some assists & really played stupid on that last drive, but they bested us themselves. In the LSU game, the officials took 16 points off the board. That's not LSU besting us that day. Win that one as we should & we're in the top 10 of the CFP rankings & controlling our own destiny.

We lost nothing from that screw job. This year's screw job will likely cost us a playoff spot which could have led to a national title.
I'm talking about the feelings associated for the long term. Not what it cost us this year. Which if we're being honest, NOT A ONE OF US had us winning more than, at the very best, 6 games this year, so the playoffs weren't even in our expectations until well after the fact. So it really didn't cost us what everyone wants to believe it did, as if we somehow thought we had a chance at the playoff back in the middle of September.

I'm gonna agree to disagree with you.

Yes, I agree the referees probably changed the outcome of that game. However, we should have NEVER allowed it to be so close that the refs could have made a difference.

To some extent, though, the refs were what allowed LSU to make the comeback. Sellers' pick in the end zone, for example, should have been called roughing the passer. If Carolina scores a touchdown there, you're talking about a 24-0 lead before LSU ever does anything on offense.

Unpopular take: our 3 turnovers and 13 penalties had a bigger impact on the game's outcome.

First pick took at least 3 points off the board.
The first fumble gave LSU 3 points. That's a 6 point swing in LSU's favor.

Haven't done a deep dive on the penalties, but I recall some killer untimely ones.

Mostly agree. Before the second half officiating shenanigans a 17 point lead disappeared. The LSU TE was open anytime he wanted to be. Both Gamecock coordinators got out coached in the 2nd qtr. That whole thing was as frustrating as refs.

There were 11 legit penalties against the gamecocks and some were absolute killers. Plenty of stuff from the control what you can department that was to be learned from that day. The officials still sucked, did play a role in the outcome but can’t control that.

I see where you're trying to go but nothing will ever equate with Navy.....Navy cost us a chance to play for the Natty

The first pick should have been wiped off by a roughing the passer penalty that wasn't called.

We definitely made enough bonehead plays to lose, I remember several killer offsides penalties on the defense.

But even with those bonehead penalties and plays, we still win if the refs don't blow a handful of huge calls.

Assuming we'd kept our focus & won the next week in the upstate. No.....Navy will always be cluster #1. The reffing in the LSU game, however, might turn out to be #2, especially if we're one of the first left out of the 12 team playoff.

agreed....add Missouri a couple of years ago and Kentucky the week after beating Bama in 2010 and you have enough heartache to last a lifetime
