There are two or three separate cheerleading organizations but they are both owned by the same company. Yes they are multiple championships. It is confusing as heck.

Your Mississippi State University sent four squads to the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) this week in Daytona Beach and did really well.
Small Coed Intermediate 1st
Coed game day 1st
Dance 2nd (got robbed imo)
All girl cheer 3rd (I think)

My granddaughter is one of the team members that won a national championship. So very proud of all the teams. They worked their tails off to achieve this!

Cheerleading competitions are straight up BS and this is two different entities putting on "championships". The one OM won is traditionally the biggest, but again, it's all nonsense.

My daughter cheers competitively. I tried to get her to play a “real sport.” The death stare I got from my wife was unreal. I have since settled in and I appreciate the athleticism that it requires. I love watching my daughter cheer. I love the camaraderie with her teammates. I hate the other cheer parents.

Try telling that to these kids that worked their *** off to achieve these national championships representing your university!
Tell them to go get in the one that's considered the "real" national championship? They could've gotten in there. And the judging of these things are like having the Russian judge killing teams on purpose at times. Then you've got these crazy divisions of different type teams. It's all a big money maker. I know the girls love it but it's all over the place with these multiple national champions. But OM and AL have claimed similar in football so raise the banner.
In all seriousness, they do work hard and they're crazy about it and I'm all for them celebrating it.

I agree it’s BS but I also agree that they work really hard.

I wish we would start working hard, in this country, on stuff that actually matters, rather than what makes certain people money.

But there’s blame on many sides there. We have created a sports/status economy in many ways.

I once stayed in a hotel after it hosted one of these competitions. Checked in but my room wasn’t ready. Came back after dinner, room still not ready. Root cause: the hotel couldnt get all the glitter cleaned up. Worked out. They ended up putting me in the nicest hotel room I’ll ever stay in.

Just sit at a high school football or basketball game and pay attention to the different damn sweaters the cheerleaders wear. Most likely three different per cheer squad and no sweater says they lost.

I actually have no issue with cheer competitions but this is weird. Same company names two national champions who just happen to be rivals

These teams pay money to be in these competitions. Why only sell entries to one competition?

Reminds me of that time a few years ago when that other company did the same thing. Think that other company was TD Ameritrade….

Only one way to settle it. Head to head cheer off. High noon at the Governor's mansion. Vote decided by the Mississippi Supreme Court.
