Maybe late arriving
Nope, afraid we're just not a basketball school. I doubt we have more than 6-7,000 vs BAMA. And had we played Auburn today, they would have brought 6-7,000 like they did last year.

Unless we play a major Power 5 opponent, we are not going to have good crowd for non conference pre Christmas games. Our non conference home schedule is usually horrible and filled with low level opponents, which is not going to draw a big crowd.

And after finals, the students pack it up and go home

This. Even at the height of Stans-mania the Hump was never close to full before SEC play. It was especially dead after Fall exams before classes picked up in January.

It's just how it is - most people aren't going to put 4 hours round trip from Jackson to watch us play scrubs at the Hump. The school would be better off giving out free tickets to locals during Christmas break.

Fans in and around Starkville should know there were 15k bammers packed into Legacy arena in Bham today. The loss may dampen the fervor somewhat, but I suspect they may travel well on the 28th.
