If Ira Lubert *has* to be involved with a group that was purposely named after The Grand Experiment, at the very least he should have the decency to be a silent partner. Especially given his behavior over the past 11 years.
I don't have a subscription to the Athletic but can read enough of the article that says Jay and Lubrano joined with Lubert (and Poole) to make it happen.
I am sure it was all just a misunderstanding?I’m sure ira has seen the error in his ways and will clear the air to aid in the healing process.

I wonder who ultimately decides where the money goes?I like the idea of helping student-athletes in need responsibly in terms of the amount of money and intention much more than the multi-million-dollar me, me, me horse-a$$ we have heard about elsewhere. Hopefully Success With Honor doesn’t delve into the latter (especially given the name of the COLLECTIVE. ).

Just to be clear: my displeasure with Mr. Lubert's behavior over the past 11 years is separate and distinct from my willingness to help out with this initiative. The more and more I think about this new Organization, the more and more I think it is time to let go of the bitterness there is against some of the Orgs board members(they ain't going anywhere like what was rumored in the past that the truth will come out). Life's too short and these current student athletes have nothing to do with the past and Jay's tweet puts it into perspective. I have experienced how most of these kids are not on full rides to come play sports at PSU. Attending a Softball camp many years ago, the coach stated that not even pitchers get full rides and they only have so much money to go spread around. Middle fielders get the most(2nd, Short) and it was only like 60% of what tuition costs. College is freaking expensive with not only tuition, room & board but also all the other stuff a student's need(laptops, lab fees, books, other bullshiite fees, prescriptions, transportation, etc). If we can help them, why not.
I can sort of relate. I was a diehard college football fan for years. Watched college football from noon until late at night. I really didn’t watch the NFL except for playoffs. The world of college athletics has changed but I, for better or worse, have not. My interest in all college sports has waned over the years and now it barely exists. There was a time when I couldn't understand people who didn't love college football or basketball and now I am one of them. My lack of passion troubles me. I want to be like so many others who get excited about Villanova beating Michigan, or Penn State beating anyone, but I cannot. My passions are now playing guitar, reading, painting on canvas...... So be it.
I think the concept is just fine. Like any such endeavor, folks can choose to be active and donate or not. What kind of sticks in my craw is the fact that for more than a decade there has been a concerted effort by the OGBOT and Administration to revise the history of PSU football so as to exclude Joe.....erase his contributions and make every effort to avoid using the phrase, "Success with Honor." In addition, I personally find Lubert's name associated in any manner with that phrase quite distasteful.Just to be clear: my displeasure with Mr. Lubert's behavior over the past 11 years is separate and distinct from my willingness to help out with this initiative.
