Going to be a tough matchup for Villanova - Houston has a lot of players and they're really going good. Big, big mismatch in the Cats' favor having that Jay Wright guy on the bench - decided schematic advantage.Down goes #1 seed Arizona, 72-60 to #5 seed Houston.
Not necessarily questioning your Wright > Sampson statement - but Sampson is a great coach and I wouldn’t just give Nova the coaching advantage in a one game, loser goes home scenario. Sampson is slimy, no doubt, but he’s been around the block (College and Pro) and has won everywhere he goes. Houston’s guards are long and athletic, this is going to be a tough matchup for Nova. Really excited to watch this one on Saturday.Going to be a tough matchup for Villanova - Houston has a lot of players and they're really going good. Are you inferring that the referees were not briefed on what’s best for the NCAA and CBS?The No calls in this game are scary. I agree Arkansas is playing a far more aggressive brand of BB.

Clyde Drexler, Hakeem Olajuwon and Alvin Franklin ain't walkin' through that door....
4th foul on Holmgren was ridiculous. Retreating as guy runs into him. These officials are terrible.Holmgren is doing nothing. Arkansas has had very good defense at the rim.

Missing the guys foot out-of bounds was inexcusable. Ref was looking right at it...and it wasn't like he had a toe OB...his whole freaking foot was OB. That ref looked like a Big Ten Line judge that PSU would get for an OSU game!4th foul on Holmgren was ridiculous. Retreating as guy runs into him. These officials are terrible.

If Duke gets off to another slow start, I don’t see it going well for them. However, if they can manage to play an entire game like they’ve played in the second half in the tournament, I don’t see anyone stopping them, regardless of how physical the game is. The key is consistency, something that’s so difficult to maintain with such a young team.P. Schmidt:
They really should have let Gonzaga and Arkansas play without refs tonight. Embarrassing!
Skipp Bayless:
I'M SORRY, NCAA BASKETBALL WITH ITS ONLY FIVE FOULS AND AMATEURISH REFS IS A JOKE. SO IF CHET HOLMGREN JUMPS BACKWARD AND THE ARKANSAS PLAYER DRIVES THE BALL UP INTO HIS CHEST, THAT'S A FOUL ON HOLMGREN??? CLOWN COLLEGE CALL - AS WERE 3 OTHERS ON FOULED-OUT HOLMGREN.
Eye on College Basketball:
Would like the excerpts to differentiate between "Gets Away With Fouls vs. Physcial Defense (which mostly resembles uncalled armbars, grabs, bumps, and hip checks)?
Grant Hill:
Wow! That was a blatant. There has to be a makeup call on the other side, anything, a walk, illegal screen, anything"
I try not to be opiniated and I never get personal with my posts. But it cannot be denied by "anyone" that the referees in yesterdays game allowed Arkansas to play a very physical brand of basketball which ultimately dictated the outcome of the game. Take this to the bank, the Arkansas Duke game will be the "Make up" game where officials dictate the outcome by calling a very very tight game.

I hope you’re right, but a slow start against a team that plays two very strong halves is going to be difficult to overcome. Only time will tell. Oh yeah, and Let’s Go Duke!I wouldn’t say that. They got off to a bad start against a team whos D holds opponents to an average of 60 pts a game, then proceeded to win with 78 points. Agree the slow starts aren’t good but As long as Banchero and Roach continue to play grown man basketball, they’ll be fine.
I really nailed that one! Can’t see Nova beating Houston… sucks. But Houston is really good and Jay Wright only gets one day to prepare. In fact, he gets zero days since today is just walk thru and a shoot around.
