Just aced the 4th hole at the PNC! Kid has some major game
He's the junior club champion at our club. He plays #3 on the Benjamin HS team, and they aren't even the best team in the area. Jupiter HS had 9 kids this season w/ under par stroke averages.

This was yesterday. Sort of a stableford championship of tour pro members. DNP's were JT, Shane Lowry, Lucas Glover, Justin Leonard, Kuchar, Nick Hardy, Tiger, and a few others.

Old Calc played well. He and Russ are the best.

You need to send pics to back up that statement!
The younger wives are local girls that married NY trust fund husbands. Some local professional couples mixed in as well.

Elin double parked one day to go watch Charlie and smiled at me and asked if it was ok. "Of course. We'll look after it for you Elin."

Just a walk up the ocean from Juno to Jupiter any morning is amazing as far as women go. The concentrated hotness of Tequesta women caught me off guard though.

Perhaps I should get a VRBO, come down and judge for myself! Or, come over from Naples when I am down in February!

Nepo babies. Barf.
If Charlie Woods wasn’t a great golfer we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Business and acting are other stories, for sure. (What else? Can’t think of any right now, other than Bronny James, not the same situation as Charlie Woods, as golf is as pure a meritocracy as is any sport.)

Tequesta is a strange little town. First there was a country club - named after a local indian tribe that as it turns out never lived there. There was no town. The town was built around the country club and named after it. There are no guard gates and most neighborhood folks get around by golf cart. You live there in the summer you just hop in your cart at the end of the work day and find an empty hole.

It's very laid back, and what attracts guys like Rickie away from Bears Club and Medalist. It, along w/ North Palm Beach are the safest (statistically) places to live in PB County.

Dow Finsterwald was the first pro at the CC in 1957 and won the PGA at the same time. Perry Como is the most famous member and sang in the ballroom for more than a few Member Guest dinners.

I talked to him one day last year after he shot 65 for the 2nd time in a row at TCC (way forward tees for kids that hit it that long). I said "That's a good number to be stuck on." He replied - "Yeah for now I guess".

I think he can play on tour, but he's not going to be another Tiger.

Helps when you have the luxury of being able to pour every second of time (and money) into practicing. Golf is not hard if you have unlimited time and money to get good at it.

Golf is never not hard.

I play once or twice a year and do as well as friends who play four-five times a week. It’s not how I like to spend my time so the once or twice a year is enough for me. Color me super unsurprised a rich kid with good genetics is good at golf. Shocker.

I remember watching Calc at the Phoenix Open. 17th hole on Sunday. Down a couple of strokes. He was deciding between driver on the drivable par 4 or lay up with an iron. He took the driver and promptly pulled it into the water on the left. He looked at his caddie. Then the club. Then the caddie. Then proceeded to snap the driver in half over his knee and threw the two pieces back to the caddie. Not a good commercial for Ping 😂

Calc won the British Open and had to stay an extra day for media, etc. We were sitting at the bar at the draft house in North Palm and he called the bar wanting to make sure he was signed up for the pool tournament.

Finsterwald was Director of Golf at The Broadmoor for quite a while. Some of the really old time members still speak of their relationship with him. A lot of his Ryder Cup stuff is featured around the outside of the pro shop. I didn't realize he was also down in FL. I saw him stroll through the pro shop one Sunday wearing his Ryder Cup jacket.
