What does Jay Wright retiring and the school showing gratitude to him have to do with Joe Paterno? Why is everything about Joe? This had nothing to do with Joe. It's not even the same situation as Joe. It's not even close. A matter of fact they couldn't be any more different. Villanova had a long time coach retire and the school expressed their gratitude. Joe Paterno was fired after a huge scandal and people think they university was going to or should have shown the guy they just fired some gratitude? In what world are these two things even remotely the same?
Again, there is a portion of our fanbase that takes great offense to anything that happens in college athletics under the "but what about Joe!?" mantra. People are right to call at least part of our fanbase a cult because it is. People worship Joe as an infallible cult leader. The irony is that Joe never wanted to be idolized the way in which the cult section of our fanbase worships him.
