Looking at the stats - Hubbard shot 6-7 from 3. That guy might make the Mt. Rushmore of State basketball if he stays all 4 years. I was unable to watch last night.

Looks like we have at least one more this year. The word was going in we had a couple more.
played a glorifed juco team tonight. Give it about 6-8 games and we'll know. Our first three games arent against any type of competition that will tell us much.... but good to see at least 1 other shooter.

Harris had 18 points from 6 three pointers and Hubbard had 4 I think. Hubbard was resting on the bench a little. Hubbard came in and hit two more and finished as the leading scorer by 6.

Harris didn't start and only played 19 minutes, scoring 20. Hubbard played 26 minutes. They were 12 of 17 combined from 3 point land. If that continues, it will open up the floor for others tremendously.

Our 3 point defense was above average. West Georgia was 4 for 19 (21.1%) from 3.

We looked a lot like I expected. I think our backcourt is definitely better this year. Even though they didn’t do a ton I’m not particularly worried about Clary, Kugel, or Melendez. Those are all guys who have been quality contributors in major conferences, they’ll have their games where they shine.

I am worried we’ve got a problem at the 5 spot. And we’re especially shaky in the post if Matthews is not on the court, you’ll notice that our issues mid-first half happened once he got in foul trouble. He comes back in after half and all is well again.

agree. We were getting beat on the boards. Backcourt looks better, good to have another shooter on the team period. Really hope we see others shoot it well too.

We are going to have our size issues. Concerned with our lack of length. The group we start just isnt big at any position.

Feels like a game we are going to look back on and realize it was the game that killed our RPI.
we play 4 games against the RPI 300. Another one in the 200s.

Its bad scheduling. Again leaves us zero room for error in the SEC.

I get playing one or two. We play 5 of these. Too easy to schedule a memphis, southern miss, or uab. Can probably work them in on a neutral site if need be.

This is the kind of negativity I come here to see along w/ griping about the student seating, low attendance, old people that don't stand up, etc etc. Some things never change........

not negativity. Fact.

There was a lot of positive though. The student section was great... and seems like we have more than 1 guy that can shoot this season.

Jans was pretty critical of Cam Matthews getting in early foul trouble in his postgame interview. He said it happens way too much (which is true) and Cam has got to do a better job of not fouling so he can stay on the floor because our entire attitude changes when he is off the floor.
