I'm glad he's coming back. The rules allow him to virtually test the "free agent market" after every season, which is of course absurd. So in that context announcing a return makes sense, but it's definitely weird.
I think you're on to something with the NIL collectives. They need to increase donations to keep doing what they're doing, which, of course, is important in today's game.
On this point, Deion Sanders was absolutely right. NIL was
intended to allow players the opportunity to cash in on their name, image and likeness. Let the player, to what extent they are able to do so, profit off themselves. NIL was
not intended to be what it currently is.
But the systems is irretrievably broken.
As much as I have loved college football in the past, with where the game is now, it would make me perfectly happy to see the whole system just come crashing down. Maybe it could be rebuilt into something respectable.
