As soon as f250s stop being daily drivers for wealthy suburbanites you'll see truck prices go back down. Until then, you are just going to have to deal with pickups and heavy duty trucks being the new 5 series.

That and nobody fears credit any longer. 1G notes over 72 months. No sweat! What am I going to do? Drive a used economical vehicle like a 17ing peasant? Nah.

I driven a truck for over 30 years. I can’t imagine not driving one. Sure over 80% of the time I don’t need it but when do I do. I have a trailer but sometimes I still need the truck. This weekend I need the truck to haul some fur but we also need my wife’s suv to haul the 4 grandkids. So I going to have make two trips to Huntsville instead of one.
Are you a French trapper from the 1600s?

LOL Many so called wealthy suburbanites = folks that don't fear credit any longer. You make very good points.

Just got a recall notice on my 2015 F150 for tailpipe emissions. The want to reprogram my computer. Truck runs great and gets good mileage and the first reports from those who have had this done is that their truck ran like schit when they got it back. To me this recall is a "Pandora's box" and I hope recalling 9 year vehicles to tweak their emission systems is not a sign of worse things to come. BTW I sent Ford their recall notice back and told them to stick it up their ***.
You do realize manufacturers have jack **** to do with recalls. That is the government.

The government mandates fuel mileage improvement through the EPA. More electronics added. They are also forcing more of the driver safety electronics.

All of this makes the costs go higher.

Pretty sure we will see some corrections on pricing of new, just like we did the last year on used.

There are some deals out there on trucks if you go basic models. And the best value small truck is currently the Maverick.

Yes I do and that's my point. What's next, recall 20 year old vehicles ? IMO this is, as I said, a "Pandora's box". If the government is allowed to start recalling older vehicles to attempt tweak their tailpipe emissions we got a major problem.

Yes. I have a feeling there’s going to be more out after this year.
I was deeply involved in agriculture in the south delta for a long time . I haven't "crunched" any farm numbers in decades but from the outside looking in I don't see how in the world yall are making it work these days. All I can say is God bless yall.

If you’re careful you’ll be fine but if there’s any kind of hiccup, look out. Thats what happened to the person you’re referring to in the earlier post. Right now it’s just survive and move on.

I built my 2020 F350 online and ordered it in June of that year. XL with the 7.3L Godzilla gas burner…..wanted the Powerstroke badly but could not justify it…..with only what I needed in it. Out of curiosity, I tried to build the exact same truck online last week while on vacation. It was almost $20,000 more. Absolute lunacy.

i feel like i won the lottery. Last September, my father-in-law decided to sell his pristine 2006 Dodge RAM 2500 4X4 Sport with Cummins diesel. He bought it brand new to tow their camper and his tractor. They don't camp anymore and he now has two tractors; one at both locations he needs one. The truck had 62,000 miles on it. Not a scratch on it inside or out. He has every service record, right down to oil changes and transmission flush. I wrote him a check for $20,000 for it.

I buy / sell heavy industrial equipment. Pretty much anything related to electric motors or heavy gearing is up minimum of 30% since 2020. Something I was buying for $60,000 in 2019/2020 is $80,000. Everyone in the industry increased prices 10-15% per year from 2021-2023. And there’s no one in their right mind who’s going to have a price reduction even if their costs have come back down.

Truth is steel got so crazy in 2021, literally tripled - no manufacturer could pass along that much of a price increase without pissing off customers. So companies were definitely eating some of those extra costs. But now even though raw materials have come back to normal, everyone’s keeping those price hikes for finished goods in place and now blaming it increased labor costs. Most manufactured goods are over inflated. I’d guess prices will level off and stay flat for the next 1-2 years. Then who knows

I've seen the housing and commercial real estate market correct/reverse itself but not sure I ever recall vehicle prices going down in my 60+ years

I'm 61 and my car is a 2021 that I like. Seeing what's coming from the auto manufacturers and the prices, there's a very real chance this may be the last car I buy.

I bought my pathfinder in ‘08, and it was probably around 2015 when I started looking around to try to spot a good deal on something new. I’m still waiting…

Bro same here I’ve got an 03. It just keeps running. I’m going to keep it for hauling and such, and probably get a little commuter car too.
Mine “runs” but the faith I have in the electrical system is nil. Needs a power control module and body control module. True, a $1K fix is better than a $40K truck, but I’d rather get something out of it than keep putting into it and not get back out what goes in.
it’s been an amazing truck
