The Quiznos commercial in the other thread got me thinking. What are some funny or WTF? TV commercials you’ve seen over the years.

Whenever we find dead mice or rats in the traps at work we always say that summer camp must be over.

This one is definitely in the WTF category….

I get a laugh every time I see the Progressive Motorcycle insurance commercial where motorcycle club members reveal what lucky thing they carry with them when they ride. Somebody had a piece of special jewelry, one had a family photo, one a lucky rabbit's foot, and of course Karl (the Swedish guy) has his lucky rabbit....."name's fooot" he says. And the motorcycle club leader questions "are we all just gonna ignore the fact that Karl is carrying a whole rabbit?" Karl replies "name's fooot" as he apparently cannot speak anything in English except for the name of his rabbit. For some reason, it just strikes me as hilarious the way Karl pronounces his whole rabbit as his lucky charm......"name's fooot". Cracks me up!

I could never decide what Karl was saying. Finally decided it was "lucky rabbit named Poot". I suppose "Foot" is better.

DirecTV ad with the electrocuted squirrel and the pigeons is pretty funny.

I think he says "Named Svoot" which is a swedish name.

I wonder how effective tv commercials are now? With everyone having a phone at their fingertips how many people watch the commercial as opposed to pick up the phone to check social media etc? I wish we’d get away from full commercial breaks and do split screens during the games. Might be more effective at reaching consumers and also speed the games up for the fans in attendance.

This is a commercial from the 90s that my wife and I still randomly reference. It aired in the Chicago area.
It has terrible acting and a male eagle laid an egg. The perfect mix of local commercial and WTF.

The one that got me was the capital one commercial of the vikings having to find new jobs. There was a scene of one viking working on a transformer on a pole, and he just buried his battle axe in the transformer...it sparked and he just fell. That one got a genuine laugh out of me. Another one was a super bowl bud light commercial where the wife is trying to get the husband upstairs away from the game...she said she had the special lingerie and silk sheets. She then said she had bud light and the guy runs up stairs, jumps on the bed, and slides out the window.

Big pharma should not be able to advertise on TV. RFK Jr is working to ban these. Only 2 countries allow it. The US and NZ. It is not our choice. Your doctor decides what meds are right for you.

Drive a little, save a lot

Though I like these old commercials, I only put the JL Jones one here because it is my "placeholder" for the Miles Warehouse Furniture commercials, which were the low-cost heroes of local Jackson Metro TV commercials in the 80s. Sadly, I can't find those anywhere on Al Gore's Interwebs.

A series of these came out during my highly cynical final years in corporate America. Cracked me up and served as yet another sign it was time to retire. This a favorite

Remember the Hardee's commercials they used to play on the big board at Davis Wade? I seem to remember they upset a fair number of blue haired women and were removed.
