He looks like a strong up-and-comer in the DC ranks.

Currently at Duke and has them 4th in scoring defense. As co-DC at A&M last year, they were 33rd nationally, allowing 23 ppg. Previously a defensive analyst at ND and A&M. Coached LB at Wake in 2019 when they had the 33rd ranked defense. Young guy at 35.

He's pretty tight with Duke HC Elko, though. Financially, he would be easily attainable.

I always wonder about the guy working for the guy. That's Mike Elko's D. Kind of like how TRob was our DC, but everyone knew it was Muschamp's D. But certainly worth kicking tires on.

Yeah, you never can tell for sure in those situations, but he's just up the road, has P5 DC experience, has some SEC experience and has good tutelage, so I'd at least give him a call to see what's up.

I still dont trust beamer to get rid of clayton

I don't think he'll have a choice. Our D has cratered.

I can't even imagine what kinds of excuse he'd offer for keeping him. It's his 3rd year, so he's had time. We aren't devoid of talent on that side of the ball.

Put yourself in Beamer's shoes and try to think of a reason you could offer at year's end for retaining White. Anything?

Oh, i'm all on the fire Clayton train. Honestly was there after UNC. I could easily see the defense having small improvement in the next few games and Beamer not pulling the plug. Beamer doesn't strike me as someone that'll easily fire someone. No reason hardesty and day should still be here either but they are.

Beamer either has to say talent is lacking, which isn't a good message to send to the players, or that coaching is bad. He can't say everything is fine and he can't do nothing. He almost has to fire the entire defensive staff since no position group looks good. The DC isn't coaching every position group.

If Elko moves on to Mich St, I would strongly suspect he takes most of his staff with him. If it comes down to money, MSU will certainly/easily outspend us.

Definitely, if the D made some incremental improvement by season end, I can see Beamer using that as justification to retain him.

Our scoring D in 3 years under White has gone: 26 ppg, 30 ppg, 33 ppg. Obviously heading the wrong direction. I don't know if you can use a few games trend at the end of the year to offset a 3 year trend.

That's a wild card for sure. Unless MSU feels burned by jumping on Tucker after he only had one year of HC experience. Given their current situation, they may want to go with someone a bit more seasoned. Either way, Elko appears to be on the rise, so Santucci may be inclined to stick with him anyway, knowing Duke isn't a long-term gig.
