the extra "good" teams in basketball makes it harder to make the tournament to even get the chance to win two games. It's a fact the SEC is the top baseball conference so wouldn't that help all 12 members trying to reach the tournament? But it's just the opposite in basketball, the fact we play in the SEC doesn't help MSU in basketball nearly as much as it does in baseball. If I'm a pro golfer and I play in a tournament with 40 great golfers or one with 80 great golfers which one is harder to make the final 16? More good competition makes a feat more difficult.
