USM RPI drops 53 spots after loss.

That's what you get with the RPI early in the season, especially with a team like USM that only had 6 games calculated into their formula before last night.
Most teams are at least 12 games deep into their schedule and USM only had 5 D-1 games prior to last night. It is not like we are still in the first week or so of the season. I wonder if Eustachy has found a way to cheat on the RPI by scheduling the NAIA schools rather than D-1 cupcakes. Even an rpi of 57 is still too high for them.
When Eustachy is in the 6th year on the job and still playing 2 NAIA opponents, he's telling the 10 USM fans that he doesn't give a **** about making the Big Dance. My question is does he have some kind of pay incentive when he reaches 20 wins because there is no excuse for them to be playing all the cupcakes and creampuffs that he plays every year. I understand that Memphis has dominated that conference, but at least UAB is attempting to put up a fight and has had some success of their own. USM is just pathetic and is doing nothing to change.

You're probably right, but that's why the RPI is out there. It's supposed to give you a good measure by the end of the year. They may avoid counting some OOC games, but they won't be able to fool the RPI after they've had 25 or 26 games thrown in. If they go 14-2 in CUSA, they may maintain a high RPI, but I doubt they do that.
...and we'll drop more than that after Valley since they are 327 out of 347 and 79 spots below Centenary.
RPI killer before we even schedule them. We would be much better off to schedule a non-Div 1 team that doesn't even factor into RPI than to play MS Valley.
I don't fault us for scheduling MVSU because everyone plays a couple of awful teams. I think even Kansas played Jackson State or someone like that. The key is to balance that out with good RPI teams. We tried that with UCLA but they absolutely blow this year and that has hurt us. Overall our non conference schedule has been much better this year.
but it is better to play a 50-100 type team on the road every once and a while. A road win counts more and a road loss hurts you less. If we sweep WKU and San Diego, we should have an RPI around 30 heading into SEC play. We'd be a top 15 team right now if we didn't lose to Rider, and top 7 or 8 if we were undefeated. The Pomeroy ratings expects us to go 13-3 in SEC play and be favored to win 15 of our 16 SEC games. We have a chance at a top 4 NCAA seed if we can do that.
The fan support is horrendous and the Reed Green Coliseum is a complete dump. They still have bleachers filling up most of their stadium. I don't think they are as bad as they used to be but the program is a complete waste.8Dog said:
Eastachy needs to count his blessings that someone actually gave him a second chance. I think he is a good coach but its hard to recruit good talent to play at a place like USM.
