It appears he showed up at camp just expecting a starting position and wasn't working as hard as the other players. So Berhalter told him he wasn't going to play much and this whole thing started.

Yeah - basically a spoiled Brat showed up to camp - didnt work hard - didnt earn a starting position and then cried that he wasn't starting to Mom and Dad.

It wasn’t just Berhalter who had a problem with him. Several veteran players were upset with his attitude and lack of effort during practice. Apparently they had a come to Jesus team meeting where they told him to get his schitt together or go home.
