Utah’s trailing 42-35, scores a TD on a 4th & 1 with 48 seconds left.
Utah goes for 2 pts, converts, goes up 43-42 and holds on to win it!

dID i REALLY HEAR THE REFS SAY THAT usc called a timeout DURING the very much live play (yes, during... when UTAH was running back an interception that would be taken away due to a penalty... but the play was still live)? Ergo, they were able to put 5 seconds back on the clock?
Been around this game a long time... THAT is a new one to me. But somewhere Witvoet and Honig are smiling at the ingenuity!
That USC v UTAH crazy finish
For those who missed the game (an acutal game between two pretty good teams took place... I remember when we used to play in those games).
From what we can gather, when the penalty was called (almost at the exact moment as the int) a ref called timeout (seriously... how much had he wagered on usc?). So they reset the clock to the moment the foul occurred.
Y'know... like they always do (yeah, TIC).
A guy from Michigan had a great response... so..... if the utah defender fumbles and usc recovers and runs it in for a TD... the timeout stands? Pretty interesting concept. Anyway, for your viewing pleasure (and to steer us away from more franklin bashing ahem)...

Safe to say the pac-12 isn’t happy about usc leaving. Wait. I’m sure it’s all just a misunderstanding.
