Golf rolls in $0 and actually costs them money. Their 3,700 seat baseball stadium is rinky dink and shares gates, concessions, and rest rooms with their crappy football stadium. They announce 3,802 for every home game but I doubt they ever have more than 2,000. I've been to 2 series up there where we played and we outnumbered them both times all 6 games

MSU endowment: $698.2 million
Vandy: $10.9 billion
(2021 numbers)

Vanderbilt can spend when and where they want since their priorities are different.

That's simply astounding. And Vandy is barely top 20 in endowment.

Wow, I didn't realize they had that much money. Evidently, the people they have managing the money are very saavy. Read this: Vandy Money

Being located in one of the best cities/states in America doesn't hurt. I keep telling myself I'm going to move up there, but the Californians are well on their way to ruining it.

That's crazy. Just an incredible gap.

I said something to my co-worker (whose kid plays in the acc). I said Vandy could be good at football over night if they loosened their standards for enrollment and committed to football facilities.

He laughed and said Vandy will take any football player they can get. They just can't get the best interested and committed.

I'm not sure I agree with him but he has seen the inside of football recruiting first hand. So maybe...so.

You think Alabama with Nick Saban is scary...

Imagine what if Bobby Johnson retired from Vanderbilt after his sixth consecutive losing season in 2007 & Vandy showed Nick the Money.

My point was, why are you showing Bugs counting $$$ when they aren't making squat off of baseball and golf which were 2 of 3 items listed in the OP?

The 3rd item listed in the OP was about being #1 in education in the SEC and you somehow stretched that into spending priorities and comparing our endowment to theirs? Having trouble following your thought process.......

Maybe Bugs is counting out the money he has to pay.
It was just a funny image.

I don't think you can just dump money at things like that and fix them. People have been saying that about college baseball forever and it hasn't happened without the typical mix of things (land a coach, etc.).

There's a fundamental culture problem with Vandy football. I don't know if it's that Tennessee is the main program, or if the Titans steal the thunder (even though they've only been there less than 25 years). Stanford is similar and rattled off some success, so has Duke. Maybe it's the SEC being so tough?

I think it's just because the fans don't care. The real reason Vandy baseball is good is because of Corbin. Very similar to those California schools that have no support, but they have coaches and talent around. Someone eventually takes advantage.
