Quite a legacy - was one of the best at the time he was coaching - Dooley's Dawgs were always ready to go. He for sure when he became the full time AD had a mind of his own and only one way of doing things , his way. RIP Coach Dooley

Living in Athens since 1968 I was surrounded by information on the Dooleys’. Vince and his colorful wife Barbara were ingrained in daily life. She hosted a talk radio show for a number of years. Coach Dooley knew when to make the necessary changes on his staff and stayed ahead of the curve. He was always a master scheduler knowing just where to put a powder puff on the schedule. He could make the weakest opponent sound like the monsters of the midway. He had access to a tremendous high school talent pool in Georgia. To his credit he was an excellent organizer and judge of what it took to put it all together. I asked him once if he thought it was karma that SOS ended up w Garcia Dooley thought a minute and said every coach needs at least one Garcia.

We had some great games with Georgia when he was their coach. Great coach, he would always blow up his opponent
to make it sound like his Dawgs had no chance.

201-77-10. That says it all. The thing I remember is how his teams found ways to hang around in games when they were being outplayed, but somehow did something near the end to win. He won a lot of games against teams that were more dynamic than his. One of the unquestioned greats. Not only that, he was a fine gentleman.
