With all that's come to light, am I the only one that thinks Tressel only gets about 20% of the blame for lying to ncaa? Most of the time I side against coaches, but in this case there looks like there was nothing he could have done, short of locking Pryer and others in cells at night. I mean that cat made 40k last year and knew he was in the wrong.

Mr. Virtue himself made the decision to cover this up. He could have easily taken that email and walked down the hall to the compliance office at OSU and said "we need to look at this". Instead he hid that, he intentionally turned a blind eye to Pryor and the others dealings and there is no telling what else he knew about.

Yeah, he is paid to win games. But I'm pretty sure that he's also there to protect the program. The sanctions that they would have faced for self reporting some of this pale in comparison to what is about to happen to them.

Tressell did know or SHOULD have known. There is no grey area on this. Its his job to "know"

And, just my two cents. I absolutely believe he KNEW

He could have done it by the book. Of course you don't put them on lockdown... But if they are out of control they have to be dealt with. As soon as you catch wind of violations you interviene, report it to compliance, and take the next necessary steps to keep the program's *** out of the sling.

Tressell lied to cover it up to win a bowl game. He did nothing properly. If you can't keep them from screwing up.. you have them pack up and leave. That's what he could have done.

Where's the line between coach responsibility and player responsibility? Even the best most micro-managing coaches (saben) can't keep track of 100 kids. Yeah, Tressel lied, but Pryor and others didn't help. I just have a problem that these few a holes get to ride off to the NFL while coach and school suffer.

didn't Fant get a 1 game suspension for borrowing money to replace a tire from a coach. Said money was paid back the same exact day when his mother made it to the bank to transfer funds. The NCAA is a piece of crap.

I run a division for my company and I have 65 employees under me. I can't control what they do at all times while here or while outon theirbuisness calls. I know whats going on and I know there are are some bad apples from time to time. I can't allow the actions of those jack asses to affect the good employees. When I see something out of line it is my responsibility to correct that issue. If I allow it to continue and I make excuses for the ****** employees other employees are going to either feel angry because of this or worse, they are going to feel they can do as they wish.

So while I agree that Pryor is an A-Hole, I disagree that Tressel could not have done anythign about it to curb this behavior. If nothing else, Tressel bred this behavior by doing nothing.

Hell he didn't borrow the money. He basically got tires with the promise that his parents pay them back to the tire store owner. He sat out a game per NCAA instruction, got cleared to play, and those ******** still nailed MSU for it. That proves the NCAA can go into a place like AU and drop the hammer if they want to. If they don't it's because they don't want to. The no evidence excuse is a line fed to the public.
