He saying out loud with everybody knows. As long as the NCAA is going to have allow the wild West when it comes to transferring and NIL stuff, they should at least implement very severe penalties for those programs found to be participating in or complicit with tampering.

Are other coaches going to speak out? Is anything actually going to be done if they do? What can be done to stop the "pay for play" ? Can coaches unionize to give them some clout in this matter ? Do coaches really want to do anything?

Just asking?

All but the most advantaged are thrashing about. They don't know where to turn or what to do.

This is a real problem. Not contacting a student-athlete while they are enrolled at another institution is a long-standing rule. I guess now the coaches think that with so many people doing it there is safety in numbers. The NCAA should clean house - but unfortunately they're not staffed well enough for the shear numbers of investigations that it would take.

It’s obvious that sone schools are complicit with poaching players. FSU has poached two of ours. How the hell does a DE for us know his NIL value the day after announcing he’s going to Tallahassee? FSU SUCKS!

I’m sure that the NCAA will find tampering and prosecute it severely…at Maryland or Oregon State or Rutgers or Cincinnati (can’t have them crash the party), or Mississippi State or good ol South Carolina. You know, the obvious places to look that are CLEARLY bank rolling the roster 🙄

I would think most coaches hate the situation

Interesting it is reported that the reason TAMU players are entering the portal in droves is that NIL money they had been promised has not been paid. This is going on elsewhere also. NIL is also causing problems in locker rooms because of jealousy issues. I'm not totally against NIL and the portal, but something is going to have to be done to regulate this out of control monster.

As expected! What used to be under the table is now out in the open for all to see.
Everybody now wants what others have and more!

I believe there is some reporting requirement or clearinghouse type setup for those players who recieve NIL money. The schools may have some issues reporting NIL deals for some players if they didn't actually manifest and, thus, can't pay them the amounts promised. This would be similar to the "no show up" jobs schools used to have for players until the NCAA requested proof that the players worked.

That's the bill of goods FSU sold him, obviously. Maybe one day when there are sane rules governing this stuff that would be admissable in court.

The NCAA? Why do I keep getting a mental image of Barney and his one bullet kept in his shirt pocket for his revolver?

My question is: who will enforce it?

As always, the fox is guarding the henhouse. The NCAA is comprised of the member schools....so will the member schools give the NCAA Enforcement the powers and tools necessary to properly investigate the member schools. This may end up being the P-5 schools (who probably don't want the enforcement power) versus the non P-5 schools (who probably would like to see the P-5 schools reigned in a bit).
