What do you call 50 media reporters blown up in a press box?

Progress.

I get that schools all want the newest shiniest thing but IMO college football starts to lose some of its appeal and charm with blowing up the old to try and keep up with the Joneses.

Reser stadium was clearly not NFL caliber but it was unique and had its own appeal. They lost some of that with renovations a few years ago and are losing more now. I assume it’s all in the hunt to try and keep up with Oregon just up the road.

I don’t see an issue with Beavers going for a new look. Also, maintenance is important.

Respectfully disagree. ;). We’re used to the huge stadiums in the east (SEC, PSU, OSU) but some of the more unique are seen in the mountain/ pacific NW areas. They just have a different college feel to them and are fun to visit.

I don’t want to see the mountain west/pacific NW lose that uniqueness all for a relatively sterile design like the recent move at Colorado State. Reser stadium has been trending that same way over the years. This is round 2 or 3 of the rebuild for them.

I’d hate to see stadiums like the Air Force Academy or Folsom Field at Colorado go down this same path. It would be a loss for college football IMO.

(Similar to if MLB tore down Wrigley/ Fenway or the NFL Lambeau).

Agree. People who expect luxury at a foot, base or basketball game should give up on sports and go on a luxury cruise.

Theres a much more family friendly atmosphere in much of the mountain west region. Prices are often reasonable and you can actually take a family of 5+ to games for the day without having to pay a complete fortune.

It’s just interesting to see other school’s gameday traditions and atmospheres. I just don’t want to see that lost. It’s what makes college football (all college sports really) unique.

(It’d be like tearing down Duke’s Cameron Indoor and replacing it with a sterile cookie cutout pro type arena like the Charlotte Hornets and calling it progress). ;)
