Watching the UM/WVU basketball game right.........A couple of observations.........

First of all, as we all know Ole Miss has got very good guards (White, Warren, Holloway, Polynice, Graham).......This is going to sound very familiar but they are a very premiter oriented team and litterally have done nothing but shot jump shots.....No inside scoring at all......They do not like to play in a half court set...If we slow the pace of the game and make them play our style of game, we win easily IMO.........We definitely have the advantage on the inside......I think the key guy for us playing them will be Kodi Augustus.......If he decides to show up and doesn't stand around the perimeter, he and JV could both hurt them inside.........

In the second half, they are driving to basket much more and with some success.....That'll cause us problems, especially if JV gets in foul trouble....

And Murphy Holloway is the furthest thing from a guard that you can imagine.

Ole Miss might be the worst rebounding team I've ever seen. They are still pretty good though.

How quickly you forget that you lost to Rider and Richmond. Not to mention the other teams in the SEC who have lost to low majors already.

They are way too soft and will get embarrassed at times this year, but they'll hand out a few embarrassments, too. Why do you so desperately need sixpack validation of your team though?

I dropped in to see how many threads there would be about the game and surprisingly only saw one.

My only beef was with asinine comments from one or two people in this thread.

That said, it's frustrating watching the lack of rebounding on both ends of the floor. I can live with the only losses being to #3 Villanova and #6 West Virginia, but it's frustrating knowing that we had chances to win both.

Did you not see the first 10 minutes where West Virginia had 7 turnovers in a tie game and we failed to convert on consecutive possessions? It's failure to capitalize on mistakes that make games like this to be losses when you had CHANCES to take the lead.

Hell, it was a one possession game in the second half, briefly. Chances to win? Yes. But that obviously didn't happen as Ole Miss shot themselves in the foot on numerous fronts.

did he get hurt? (I wasn't really listening). I thought OM played some strong man to man for 2/3 of the game, particulalry considering that WV is much more skilled in a half court offense than almost all of the SEC (I hope some people watched them...that is what movement is). OM got in the passing lanes yet didn't get burned too much by back cuts. WV is really athletic and long. OM went zone and press a little and paid for it.

Offensively, OM just doesn't seem to know what they want to do on offense and jacks up a lot of questionable shots (sound familiar?). Warren hurts more than he helps at times. Rebounding is a definite problem. Kennedy needs to hang his hat on White and tell everyone else to know their role.

All in all, OM played much better than I thought they would.

You make great, educated points, though.

The offense has been inconsistent, thus far. There will be games like tonight and Villanova where we'll go stagnant and allow the opponent to go on one run that is enough to win the game.

Then there's games like Kansas State where we play well, but not perfect, and get a double digit win against a good team.

Above all, I think it's important to note that Ole Miss is fairly young. One senior (Who's a JUCO transfer) and everyone else has had no more than two seasons of competition.

you were in the game in the first 10 minutes? You have to be kidding me that this is a validation that you were in the game. In that case, we were in every game with a Sly Croom coached football team. The games started 0-0.

and from about 15 minutes to go, WVU was never in danger of losing.

Y'all have a good team but you never got closer than 7 or 8 especially in the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half. That's not close to winning.

It's like talking sense to a 'bama fan. Utterly useless with no fun involved.

Also, loved watching OM try to fight through WV's picks. I haven't seen that many rebels bounce off the ground since the Egg Bowl.

you should be proud of your basketball team. they put up a good fight for them against a clearly superior opponent. with a little luck you guys could squeak into the ncaa tournament this year. this is no rod barnes coached team, that's for sure!

Seems like y'all lucked out against another ****** team, too. Y'all have been every bit as lucky this year as you've been good.

<span class="post-title"><span class="post-title">Terrico has been quiet all season...</span></span>
He came into this game averaging 16.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.. What part of that is "quiet" all season?
