I'm not following the trial, but funny clips do show up on here and there on FB that I give a quick look. Just saw one where one of Depp's lawyers was questioning Heard about a promise she made to donate the entirety of her $7 million divorce settlement to charity. The lawyer asked Heard to confirm that she had, in fact, not donated any of the money to charity. Heard said that was incorrect and that she had indeed pledged the money. The lawyer responded to clarify that that was not the question she had asked and pressed Heard again to confirm that she had not yet donated any of the money. Heard pushed back again saying that was incorrect and smugly replied that she uses pledge and donate synonymously (even though they are two words with totally different definitions and consequently NOT synonyms). She then made a terrible attempt at an analogy that when you say you buy a house you don't actually buy the whole house.

In my opinion, they both look like fools. Again, in my opinion, Depp loses more regardless of the outcome. Drugs, lost all of his money and nobody wants to work with him. Heard will find work.

Well, yeah, as one commentator noted "there's no good guy here." Depp is sleazy as all get out. Heard is a steaming hot pile of crazy.

From the bits and pieces I see, Heard has come out on the losing end, in that going into the trial I think she had public sentiment largely on her side with me too and all that, but it seems Depp's rep has gotten a bit of a boost b/c it seems obvious that Heard is just totally bonkers.

She hot but the ***** is dumb.
Depp let his Johnson get him in real trouble when he married this ding bat. Seems pretty clear she married his bank account rather than him. When she could no longer stand him physically, she served the paper's and claimed a huge amount of his bankroll. If he had forced the prenup issue before the wedding, she'd have freaked out then and he'd have seen the bag of worms he was about to legally crawl into bed with. Now he's a loon too. It's not like she's all bad and he's all good. They are both nut jobs to differing degrees. But it is entertaining TV.

Y'all have fun with this.

What little bit I'm interested in the outcome is due to the larger social situation with "me too" that Heard was trying to capitalize on. I will always be there cheer when a false accuser gets exposed as such.

She is way out of line with the crazy hot scale. Too much crazy and not near enough hotness. Johnny Depp got what he deserved.....hopefully he will get $50M from that physcwhore.

This is 2022's version of Tiger King. You will lose a few IQ points watching this rubbish, but it's very hard to turn your eyes away from it.

Is there a reason this story is so pumped in the media? Two looneys arguing over who's more looney?

I get the passing notice, but I see articles on them very regularly.

It'd be funny if the trial was really just way of resuscitating both actor's careers. With how much it was publicized and all the comical moments that it produced, I could see that being an ulterior motive.

However, I don't think anyone is going to want to work with Heard anytime Soon. Depp, on the other hand, is probably already fielding offers. The main thing that matters is the court of public opinion and Depp won there by a LONG shot over Heard. They're both scummy, but Depp comes off as likable scummy while Heard just seems unlikable in every way.

Jury awarded Depp $5 million in punitive damages but VA law caps punitive damages at $350K.

So, he sued for $50 million. Was awarded $15 million. Actual award will be $10.35 million. But has to pay Heard $2 million. So he'll walk away with $8.35 million before legal fees.

Based on what I read of his spending habits, that should set him up for about a year.

Heard will likely have to do a lot of nudity to get a good role.

From the bits I've seen, Hollywood is already lining up behind Depp. She's done.

If Mel Gibson is back, anyone can be back. Though I have to say, I can’t recall seeing her in a movie. I know I have when I look at her filmography, but I just don’t remember it.

I actually didn’t get the fascination with this case. I certainly love some trashy TV, But this whole thing just seemed contrived - and it seemed like even the court was in on it. At the very least that judge should never be allowed to try another case. She lost all control and should have removed the cameras once it was clear that the whole thing was turning into a circus. And it was a circus - all theater for the cameras.

Well, that's part of it. The reaction I hear from most people is "I can't think of anything she's been in." It's safe to say this trial is the most exposure she's ever had and is what she's most known for.

I would expect to see her on Dancing with the Stars or Celebrity Big Brother soon.

She was in Aquaman.

Yeah, that's the only movie I've seen referenced that she's been in. Looking at her IMDB, I have not seen anything she's ever been in. (mild disclaimer: I have seen parts of Friday Night Lights but not the whole thing)

FWIW, if her performance in the courtroom is any indication of her abilities as an actress, she may never work again.

Well, admittedly she isn't good at acting. But watch the movie Drive Angry and you will see that if you put her in tight, short shorts and she is really hot. Hot enough to get Depp to marry her, crazy enough to get him to divorce her.

As to the $2M, Depp actually didn't say anything. He got sued for what his lawyer/agent said. So, the agent would, in theory, have to cough up the $2M, probably from the malpractice carrier.
