Hi everyone... I am at that stage in my life where I must be examined for colon cancer because according to my doctor it is wise to do so... My question is which would be the better option? I know people who hve been happy with cologuard because it is non-invasive and has a effective level of detection beyond 90%... That said, a colonoscopy can detect polyps which cannot be done with cologuard. On a personal note, my mom had be bowel punctured from a colonoscopy which is why this decision is so difficult. I would appreciate hearing about some of your experiences and how you felt about afterward about your decision. Thank you!
A suggestion for those with sensitive guts….instead of experiencing nausea while ingesting the Prep Solution: prior to your procedure have your Doc give you a script for anti nausea meds. Works like a champ….really helps.

No brainer. Never miss an opportunity to have something put up your butt with a handful of witnesses and a camera running.

I had a small cancerous growth in colon surgically removed about 4 years ago. Have had several colonoscopies with no problems. Follow these issues fairly closely. Was listening to a a dr. podcast about a year ago (forgot name), but one of the docs stated that in Europe you are not put under anesthesia and that Europe had much fewer instances of perforated colons because if you are not under when the doctor is probing around you can feel the pain before the colon perforates.

Nothing like peace of mind get the scope, today with phones and tablets the toilet deal is at least more tolerable. Once you drink the solution you don't get hungry as you would think. They give you a twilight drug wake you up during procedure don't feel anything. Go home sleep , and again you're not as hungry as you would think.

I’ve had it done both ways , under and twilight drug. There ain’t a comparison. When I had the twilight drug, I was like half drunk all day, couldn’t walk right, talking wild stuff etc
When you come out of being under you wake up no problems, some people even go back to work. I m always going under ftr

Maybe i'm wrong on this but what's the difference ? When you're under can they wake you up and show you the screen ? Or is that just under the twilight drug.
I also think you have to sign a disclaimer to not drive or work with machinery.

Pretty sure you sign the waiver for both, at least I did. But I could really tell a difference when I woke up. When I was under I couldn’t see or hear anything. Twilight I could hear things maybe see a little
