DS, fans, pundits and commentators have been saying this all year and it all came true in the fourth quarter yesterday

“Gotta clean up the turnovers or it’s gonna bite us on the backside.”

“Gotta not ease up on the gas when we get a lead or it’s gonna bite us on the backside.”

“Gotta make our free throws or it’s gonna bite us on the backside.”

Well we got bit!

It doesn’t change the fact that we are the best team in the country, and the deepest. We have the best player in the country. But the sheen of invincibility has been knocked off of us. We have given hope to our opponents. We have had 2 months to get these straightened out and haven’t. We got two weeks to fix it or we could be disappointed in April

Let's not forget we were down 16 to UCONN in the 1st half and 18 to Stanford and won both games. What's changed?

Dawn went from playing our bench a lot early in the season to playing "the veterans" more in the SEC tournament. They seemed to tired to me in the 4th quarter, perhaps because they aren't use to playing heavy minutes.

Amihere and Cardoso only played 14 minutes a piece. They are both more impactful than Saxton and need to play more, IMO. Like you say, we are the deepest team in the country, but the impact of the bench is limited if we don't play them.

While we do have a deep bench, CDS still has to determine who is “on” and who is “off”.

Something just seems off. the team will look unbeatable for a moment, then like we forgot how to play winning basketball.

From what I've observed based on recent and tournament play, I would say Stanford, NC State, UConn, and Baylor are playing better than us at current time.
Can we beat those teams? Yes. But we will have major work cut out for us in making the final four and winning a N.C. once we arrive at the elite 8 if our deficiencies (FTs, TOs, crunch time execution) are not shored up to a much higher level of execution

Hopefully, they shake this loss, recapture their mojo, and go on a nice run through the tourney.
go cocks.

4 seconds left in the game and we try dribbling through three defenders and chuck it from half court. Didn't even look to pass.

You advance the ball much quicker by passing. Not the reason we lost but we appear to be missing some BB IQ.

I hope we grab the brass ring. We've actually had the best team now for three straight years. One was taken away from us. We blew the Stanford game last year and here we are the best team again. How much non-realization can the program absorb without losing its cachet? That's an honest question, not a slam.

May not be a slam, but it is a VERY premature vote of no confidence. One that I doubt you would utter about Geno, Tara, or Kim and is a tad snide. Those three are her only peers in WBB.

I find it unwarranted doom and gloom especially as you look at the last nine years and a roster that is top 5 talent for the next three years even if we sign no 5 stars 2 years in a row.

To look at rosters around the league, LSU graduates 8 seniors and brings back no one of importance, UGA brings in Barker but loses 4 starters, UF loses Smith and brings in no one, UT loses Burrell and brings in Pissott but again no pg. ole miss graduates a ton, UK Loses Howard and Edwards. The SEC will down next year.

Nationally next year Stanford and UCONN match our talent, maybe Maryland, that’s it.

Premature? Did he make an assertion about the team? He asked a "what if" question and I think it's a valid question to ask _if_ we fail to win the national championship this year. We have had the most talented team for three consecutive years now. Hopefully, we will bring home some hardware this year, but this team should be undefeated. I hate saying that the #1 team in the country is not playing up to its potential, but it's true.

I’ll say it: I don’t think we win it all.

I love CDS and watching these ladies play. When they’re on fire no one - I mean NO ONE - can hang with them. But, there have been critical times when that fire has left for periods or time. Most times, they’ve overcome it. It’ll be tougher in the tourney should their play fall off for a spurt. I HOPE I’m wrong.

If that is your concern, the gamecocks have been the most consistent team all season. Any other team you name have had 3x the amount of inconsistency they may have experienced and it has resulted in multiple losses for those squads. I think the loss is the kick in the pants this team needed to go ahead and win the whole thing. Their last lost resulted in a15-16 game winning streak. Now all they have to do is win 6 games and they are the National Champs. Seems doable to me.

I think they'll be fine. So far we lost two games by a total of 3 points. If Dawn didn't have everyone's full attention before she'll definitely have it now with a loss similar to our final four loss of last season. Kentucky has been on fire lately and they gained a lot of confidence playing us the 2nd time around with a strong 4th quarter surge and hasn't lost a game since that meeting. Beating a team 3 times in row is always hard especially with a conference opponent you play every year.
The team had 3 goals this season, win the SEC regular season championship, win the SEC tournament and win the NCAA tournament. I'm sure missing out one of their goals should inspire the team to really pick up their level for the big one.

I think we will win, although winning any championship is never easy. I think the loss sharpens them up. Hopefully to their highest level ever. We’ve not operated all year at peak in my opinion. Missing layups, errant passes albeit aggressive ones in a number of cases, poor shot selection passing up a good look, getting a rebound and passing the ball into someone’s backside, dribbling off your foot…. There have been a number of things that have plagued this awesome group and yet we’ve only lost two games by one point each and blown away almost all the top level teams or beat them comfortably.

if we resolve some of those little things, and the couple of contributing freshmen are “on”, and we get “fair” officiating (which we did not in our arm-final game last year we will win.

Free throw shooting and guards scoring consistently will be vital. Maybe a little more “meanness” out of Aliyah and Cardoso would help along with some jump shot shooting practice.

When you watch our teams coached by DS, the teams do not look like cold blooded killers, nor do they look well coached. Maybe basketball IQ!? Not sure, but you give geno this team or the past few teams and we are talking dynasty. Right now she looks like a reg coach who recruits well but can’t get it done for some odd reason.

Dawn outcoached and our team outplayed a fully healthy geno's team by 16 points in a preseason tournament. Sounds like you have another agenda totally unrelated to the actual sport. Wonder what that could possibly be?

One of Genos weakest teams in a long time. No worries about the huskies now I guess, we can always beat the breaks off teams like Kentucky…. Oh wait

How about a statement like…doing less with more???
Hmm.....🤔
32-1 ncaa #1 in the country in 19-20 tourney cancelled
26-5 and final 4 in 20-21
29-2 #1 in the country in 21-22
45-3 in SEC games, top 5 SOS all 3 years

I’m trying to understand your concept of doing less. You sound more like a malcontent troll using dog whistle phrases

Also may want to check Feb and April of 21 before you start spouting numbers. Reg season is one thing, but if you can’t get it done down the stretch, it says something about your coaching abilities. They choked down the stretch… choked with a embarrassment of talent on the roster. Multiple years!

If I were coaching against Carolina I would play zone and would not guard Beal at all.. she’s a liability on the offensive end. Stop the ball from going inside and make them shoot from long range.

I would love to see Geno get 4 titles out of three seasons with one of them having the tournament cancelled. You are clearly just anti DS. Good for you. Why hang around to talk about a coach you dislike. That is troll behavior. As Beamer said find some joy. Go on over to the boneyard and find yourself a new playground.

And let’s be honest. Over the last 5 years DS has gotten the most out of her talent.
The year after we won the title 17-18 with the lose of Coates, Davis, and Gray there was simply not enough talent to win a title
18-19 was our worst team over the last 10 years. It was fatally flawed, no post player for O or D. The cancer of T’ea Cooper.

I have already given the last three years. Your basic premise is simply false and I am not sure what has driven you to it. Over veneration of Geno, anger at DS, or something in your own soul? But your assessment is not based in reality.

I am not a sophisticated perspective at all. I did play point guard and do pay a lot of attention to fundamentals. Case in Point: Coach K got out-coached by a team with inferior players individually last night, but as a whole could not compete with VT. It was fundamentals. Ball handling. few turnovers. Out rebounded Duke. The much smaller team out rebounded the really long team. Williams is an extraordinary physical specimen unlike anything I have seen since Joel Embiid- who I saw play at Kansas. Give him 2 years and 35 more lbs and he will dominate the next level too.
WBB now- Could it be that we suffer from it being too easy at times. It seems both the Semi game and the final we were up 10 to 12 points in the forth and the other team played their guts out to catch us. Zia dribble drives into a defender for a turnover, Amerihe(spelling) missing shots badly, lazy cross court passes for a steal. It seems we don't know how to slow it down to run clock and it bites us and for some reason stop playing aggressive D. Kentucky was an interesting called game. I noticed several times our big's got pounded and most of the time got the foul. WE seemed to grazed their players or clean blocked 3 times and got the call for foul. The foul situation did impact the mindset at the end of the game- Boston seemed to back off not wanting to foul out.
The teams performance has been extraordinary- and DS is a master. I think WLorTie wants it and wants it bad. I think at times, this team has looked in-human and untouchable and now a few kinks have revealed themselves and WLorTie is worried, but hopeful. I am the same. We need WBB to get and stay hungry and go get their most deserved NT. The only other observation I have made of this team is there is a lack of a shirt range jump shooter. Cooke is the best in that 10 ft range but we need that production from Amerihe and Saxton and Lessette. Those short rangers free up the post just enough for AB to do her foot work magic. even the big girl from Georgia had a sweet little jump shot from 12 ft. we have to produce that shooter this year and next.
IS Boston coming back or does anyone know?Proof-is-in-the-Pudding.jpg

Thanks- didn't know the rule. Awesome news!! So her and Cordona in the block again next year- Beast mode!! - just gotta find a replacement for Henndy!!
We have her. Raven Johnson. Too bad she suffered a torn ACL. She was looking very good in the limited time we saw her. Very talented true PG. Hopefully she will be good to go at the start of the season.

Should have said this was the suspected injury. Not sure it was ever confirmed.

DS, fans, pundits and commentators have been saying this all year and it all came true in the fourth quarter yesterday
