We are so bad at football…

I don't think I've given or received any real-life "trash talk" with Ole Miss fans in 20 years or more. Seems very high school.

When you live outside the state nobody gives a crap about Mississippi state. Most other schools fans aren't afraid of msu sports. They talk good about msu baseball and mention Dak but that's about all they know. Most fans will say they don't mind msu because they don't see us as a legitimate threat to their standing. Go back 10 years ago in California they knew all about msu dak Dan Mullen. few years ago they knew leach but most of that in conversation was stuff he said at wazzu or Texas tech. Very few related leach to msu just because his tenure was short and Covid year at that in there.

I worked in Ms all my life and I can't recall more than one or two OM fans that I worked with in my career. Plenty of State, Bama, and LSU fans with a healthy sprinkle of USM and HBCU fans. I ate lunch with a bunch of OM fans and I tried to tip them well except at the drive through, I refused to tip at a drive through!

That’s a lie.

I have never conversed with an OM fan, about sports, without some trash talk sprinkled in.

They feel sorry for us, or rather, justified in their presumptuousness.
I don't converse with them, period, even my in-laws that went there. And I live in Starkville so there just aren't many of them laying around anywhere. I haven't had a heated conversation with one of those presumptuous narcissistic pricks in years

I live in Nashville and this year has been quiet. I think a lot of folks were holding their breath out of fear that we’d be good (or at least improved). The confederates that I know aren’t even discussing football or our ineptness like they used to. Some, though, are feeling great embarrassment of their own that they aren’t living up to the hype machine’s predictions so far.

that ole miss fans that I come in contact with don’t talk trash anymore.

And yet, we do nothing. Losers accept losing. Make MSU great again!

It’s not NIL. It’s leadership.
OM got lucky with their rival, we tear our own program down so much, they don't have to waste any energy on us.

My University of Northern Miss alumni friends have been quiet this year as well. The one time I did get grief I simply stated that Old Miss spent $15million on this team and well over $10million on coaches for this year alone and is staring down 8-4 instead of in the playoff hunt. They can’t be happy that they went “All-in” this year and lost at home to a bad Kentucky team.

What do you think we should be doing mid-season? Firing coaches isn't going to make us better over night. Is there something else you expect to see?

I haven't talked Ole Miss-State trash or received it since I was about 12. I grew up in an area of the state that was about evenly split between the two, and we talked crap to each other constantly. Then I lived out of state where no one even considered either one of us relevant enough to talk about. They really had no idea who we or Ole Miss were. Then lived 20 years in Starkville where they were few and far between. I did always find the few life long Starkville natives who were very die hard Ole Miss kind of hard to understand. Guess that goes back to the 50s and 60s when you couldn't count what State did as playing football.

Next year may be even worse than this year. We get the "winnable" games on the road next year. And I'm hearing our QB is getting some big NIL bids from some schools we can't beat if they want him.

Folks, today needs to be a day of remembrance and celebration. It's been 44 years since Dana Moore beat Bama 6-3. Look at how good things were today 44 years ago.
