LSU will have the ball with 15.2 left following two FT misses by us. 76-75 USC now.

Could come down to that away Auburn game....beat them there after pickup up two of the next three.....or all three...but that would be needed....

Well that's not likely. Senior day is not the best day to be playing a top 10 team.

One for four from FT line in the last minute. Yikes. Other wise FT's were solid.
This is the first game I've watched this year start to finish. WE need a point guard. LSU has quick Defenders and we struggling getting the ball past mid court.
Our Bigs need to assert their strength. They fold when covered instead of powering through. Martin does miss-time his rage. There is athleticism on the team. Need to be smarter. Lofting the ball out of bounds with under two in a one point game is just lack of Basketball IQ.

We can’t dribble or pass through a press, I am fearful of what lies ahead

It was a strange game. LSU will think they lost the game at the line (they were 13/22). Had we lost it, we would have thought the same thing based upon the last minute and a half.

I haven’t been to a game in quite some time since I live in Atlanta, but I went today. Admittedly, I was over CFM and wasn’t expecting much from this team. But they really battled today, and despite a mediocre crowd, it was a greet atmosphere.

I was really happy for Cousinard as he was the difference in the game for us. Seems like we always have one hot guy on the floor. If we could just have them all playing well in the same guy, we might just win some games.

Anyway, I was impressed with today’s overall performance.

Different coach.
In all fairness, this one took us far deeper than that one ever did. At the same time, he did win a conference title and this one hasn’t.

But the better comment here is that, yes, we did win that game. But it was the first time in 34 years they lost on Senior Night.

Anyway, Auburn is good and we likely won’t beat them on their home floor. But they ain’t those old Kentucky teams and it isn’t Rupp Arena. Of course, we don’t have BJ, Larry, Melvin, Stack, Gallman, Wilborne, etc…either.

But it’s a great opportunity for a HUGE statement win that would certainly be attractive on our resume if it does indeed come down to that. Just win games. It sure would be hard to leave us out if we are close and just pulled that game off.

Not trying to be funny or anything but do you think you can do a better job coaching than Frank Martin? He has this team rolling with about 8 new players on the roster. The team record is 16-10. It’s kinda annoying when ppl on social and messages boards create narratives that Frank Martin isn’t doing his job well.

The matrix they use still has us out - last I checked. The early season counts just as much as the late. Now we have no wiggle room at all. It's doable. It's also problematic.

My observation was not of him as a person or directed at his whole body of work. Not at all. I believe he is an admirable leader in many aspects. But I witnessed him stewing at our Big man that had the ball in the post and attempted to throw the ball in the corner but hit the rim for an out of bounds, loss of possession. We got the ball back and were lining up for an in-bounds throw (which we had struggled with), at a critical moment. In the mean time, Frank was lam-blasting the Big, who was a ways away and not even hearing what he was saying, about a play 30 seconds earlier, in a key situation. THE net result was him walking around the court bowed up with a scowl face. But no one was being impacted by any single word he said at that moment and he was still 30 seconds in the rear view mirror. Save that for the film room. And as I shared in my opinion above, teach those bigs to pivot and hold the ball with aggression and create space off the pivot. Our Bigs tend to hold the ball and not pivot and then comes the double team and then they are frozen. My observations are small. Situational. I will always default towards being an optimist because I want us to win, win, win. I am sure the same as you do. WE are on the same team. I will never demean the person, leadership, or effort of Frank's teams or any of our coaches teams in any sport. Unless you start to observe character issues that start leaking out onto the field of play i.e. Shi Smith "Me" mentality playing and thinking like an individual. I am equally excited about where we are in the last 3 games. I also mentioned in my post it was the first full game I had observed, so it is only a small sample of the year, I am sure. I do believe we should all point out observations that might help. Meant to improve not tear down. I also appreciate your excitement for the team and where Frank has them pointed. I do hate we are losing Stevens and Reese. Any chance they come back due to Covid extension. I also did not know Gray had a hurt hand. How was he before the injury? If he is an impact will he be healed up for the final stretch?

I also know that we had the stud Columbia recruit in-house. Hope he liked the atmosphere and outcome enough to stay home.

If we don't Dance for yet another year, is he worth what the school is paying him? I'm not trying to be funny, either.

I don’t agree that Frank is better than Fogler, but that’s a matter of subjective opinion since neither were/are great. Frank had one team with a couple of star players get hot at just the right time. Fogler won a SEC. But, I’ll say this for Fogler. He has stuck around and supports the school.

I’ve never liked Frank. He’ll never change. We’ll never really win anything with him, and his style of playing will never be truly fun to watch.

He always "has new players" and that is basically the whole problem.

That’s a college basketball problem not just Martin problem. Lol like I said y’all create a lot of narratives about Frank Martin because y’all don’t like him???

Honestly if we go in a different direction because we’re not in the tournament I wouldn’t be upset because we should want all of our teams to be elite but I’m not going to create false narratives about Frank Martin like a lot of ppl.

Well, then youth is not an excuse for anyone. That was easy...

I actually really like F.M., but maybe he is the one who deserves to be yelled at.

Me neither, sometimes. Point is, the fans are his boss just like he is the boss of the players. We can yell at him too.
Nah that’s not a good analogy 😂 on a bigger picture we need to be satisfied but his boss is Ray Tanner. He’s paid to coach his players. He recruit players that can handle his style of coaching. A fan can’t just yell at Frank Martin without getting kicked out the game and we’re aren’t allowed inside the press conference so we’re not his boss. Lol

Actually, I think the Bama game is more important - and more winnable. 19-11 regular season and win 2 in the SECT to be 21-12, and I think we make the tournament.

Y'all college basketball is hard to keep winning levels elite. Just look at UNC. They have all the talent in the world and can reload at any time, but they are very average this year. Will Davis succeed at this blueblood school? Only time will tell. Now, travel down to Columbia, without the tradition, without the recruits beating down the door to get in, facilities needing upgrading, and an athletic department that pours its resources into football. That's quite a lot of challenges for us, and UNC ain't fairing much better than us! I still think that if GG comes here for a year, we could be back to a deep tournament run.
