Our dline was complete buttcheeks this year. Dinkins out all year and KBJ out 3/4 of the year on the DT side. Defensive ends too busy knocking out bros in the cotton district. Not saying I am happy with coaching but there was no depth to fix that. When you can't generate any pressure you make guys like the Arky QB look like Heisman contenders. If the coaching staff doesn't address this in the off-season then it is time to move on. If UCF has another bad year then Malzahn is available

This guy completed 80% of his passes and threw for 5 tds against us. Almost half his season total. Also averaged 10 yards per carry. Defensive scheme has looked garbage but also relying on a true freshman DT and an EMCC transfer DT that is what you get. Lebby claims he hired Hutz because he is a good recruiter. Prove it over the off season

Also if money is not a concern then throw it at Kamario Taylor. Start Shapen next year and let MVB take these alleged offers he is getting to go elsewhere. If we commit to MVB then Taylor is not an option. He is not gonna sit around 3 years to be the starter his senior year

You gonna pony up the buyout for him and the staff? I didn't think so. Doing it even if we had the money would guarantee at least 10 years of this crap. NOBODY would take the job. It would be Rick Ray except many times worse.
You're exactly right. Except we have our football version of Ricky Ray presently.

At this point it doesn't matter who is coaching. It all comes down to $ to buy quality players. If we can't compete there then the results will be the same. The players win or lose games on the field and ours got steamrolled yesterday.

Nothing is going to beat 2008. 45-0 loss with 24 total yards
Uh, have you not watched our defense and clueless DC? I'm telling you Kiffin is going to try and get the fans back and beat us 80-17 while putting up 700 yards of offense will do that. No matter what those fakes in Oxford say they'd cream in their pants if they did this to us, and it is very possible. Coleman freaking Hutzler as our DC who was a STC his whole life and has never called a defense before. To top it off we gave him a million dollar a year salary over three years. I was told he was this great recruiter. He was recruiting for Alafreakingbama with Nick Saban as HC. How in the hell did we get here?

You can demand fire the DC. But you gotta give the HC 3 yrs in the scenario we are in unless he pulls a Cannizaro.
For the most part, I agree, but Lebby sure makes it hard on himself by saying crap like this

You don’t have to get up there and say, “well, yeah… we obviously need to fire that idiot Hutzler”. But sheez, at least say that you’re going to evaluate and address poor performing areas after the season. These votes of confidence about already have me checked out for the ‘25 season

He’s not going to slam him publicly especially since they are friends outside of football (which is an epic mistake on his part to hire him in the first place)

We can’t afford to fire and rehire a staff.
This. How many freaking coaches are we still paying? Hell, one of them works in Oxford! I’m starting to absolutely agree that the athletic department is the real problem. How many former bulldogs would rather work in Oxford than for their alma mater?
I’m personally not down on Lebs YET, but if he keeps Hutzler as DC, Selmon is proving he is as clueless as Lebs. Hell, he actually proved that when he allowed an inexperienced asst coach get paid $1 million for a job he’s nowhere near qualified for.

I’m afraid we will need OM to beat us 80-17 for Lebby and Salmon to shltcan Hozler.

According to the Knight commission, our severance to coaches was $2.8 million in 2023. However I've heard someone from with in... any time something is needed for football gameday....

"we ain't got no money."

The sentence could be etched in stone in the Bryan building.

That article actually spells out exactly what's wrong. We do not have SEC caliber players across the board on defense. There were people, I wasn't one of them, who tried to warn us what was happening to the talent level in the lower classes on the defense for 2-3 years. It finally caught up with us. It's not going to matter who the coach is if the talent doesn't improve. Our defensive front has been getting blown off the ball all year.

Lebby & Hutxler have to share some responsibility for the lack of defensive talent. Lebby brought in plenty of portal players on offense. Why no real defensive portal push?

We weren’t making a bowl game in 2008 you stupid mother 17er. And nobody cared about the year before. There were signs all over V-H calling to fire Croom. He was as awful as Lebby is now.
I didn’t say making a bowl game you obtuse idiot. I said we had fans wanting to keep him for winning a bowl game the season before. And that is a FACT.

You and 85 are total losers and are just making crap up to fit your agenda. Your hatred of the mean ol black AD is laughable. And I hope Lebby gets to one day kick your ***

Worst part of this is that Lebby will probably improve some, may even sneak/backdoor in a bowl game by year 3 or so, just like Croom. But that's the peak, and we'll end up with him for another couple years. Because we also have a nimrod running the AD. Not to mention the thousands of NIL/revenue dollars we'll spend getting there.

Big donors should just bail this offseason, let us go ahead and fail next year (it's going to happen anyway, with our without spending millions), and then get back on board when we get a real AD and coach in here.

There is zero doubt that talent is a huge problem, but there's also zero reason that people have to pretend that it's the only problem. We have enough talent to be better than 128th in the country, and god bless Ok St for being the only P4 team worse than us by giving up 500 yds/gm.

Second, if we're all going to hope and pray that talent is the only issue, then my next question is going to be... what are Lebby and Hutz doing to address it? If they can't even hold on to the handful of decent JUCO prospects that we had, do we really have any confidence that they're going to blaze a trail in the portal?

I've said it before, but let me just say this again. I'm not ready to fire Lebby, and his coaching staff is his choice. That said, if he brings this ****show of a staff back next season, and we have another 2-10 to 3-9 year, he's done and Selmon's seat is boiling hot.

Salmon and Lenny are cocky children. They think they know it all, and by damn, it's on us fans after that to help them. They've actually got many of our influential fans/boosters/media believing that it's simply a matter of raising money.

No....the good coaches show some proof of concept, even in losses.....and generally immediately. About the only thing Lenny has shown he can do is complete a forward pass inconsistently.

But.....it's really on the man that hired them. And he (Keenum) can correct this instantly if he wanted, and there's plenty of evidence there. Send Salmon packing, and then we'll see if Lenny's seat gets hot, and he gets shlt in gear. If not, send him back to Norman too after 2025.

So I really should edit the title of this post to fire Salmon now.

In the past two portal classes, what defensive players have we signed who was even decent ? there isn’t one. So what other Power conference team has went two portal classes without signing even one contributor on defense ?

We did sign Blanton. But I don’t know that one mattered who the coaches were though. Lebby absolutely spent almost none of his time & resources on the area of biggest need.

Blanton is horrible. I said a decent player on defense. we haven’t added anyone through the portal in two classes.

Which is hilarious, sad, and probably still somehow true.

In all of the big 4 sports put together (40 total seasons), we’ve only fired 3 coaches without cause in the past decade - Moorhead, Howland, and Arnett. And Arnett’s buyout was basically nothing. I bet we easily have the lowest buyout payments of any SEC program. No way we are still paying Moorhead, and Howland’s is dirt cheap…too.

Nothing says “can’t afford to compete in P4 athletics” like not being able to fire a 2-10 SEC football coach who has shown no competency in any area whatsoever, when you have no other major debts to speak of.

……there is really no other choice, after today. Just delaying the inevitable.
This is an absolutely insane take.
I’m not thrilled with how the season went. It sucked in a big way. There have to be changes, no doubt about that.
But the idea that you’re going to fire a second straight coach after one year, pay all those buyouts on top of what you’re already paying, and then expect to be able to a) entice a new coach and b) put together any sort of competitive roster for the next guy, it’s just complete fantasy. We already can’t afford basic crap like a functioning stadium sound system.

You’re not wrong. But he’s probably our 2nd best defensive player. That says a lot about why we’re where we are now.

Correct on all levels. A lot of people on this board think we are in such a strong position to hire a great up and coming coach.

The only reason Gignetti ever considered taking the Indiana job is because because they gave Tom Allen a legitimate chance. If they fired Allen after one season there is no way a ambitious coach would take that job. We are on Purdue football level right now. They have had some past success and are in a premier conference. How many up and coming coaches are lobbying for that job? None. That's where we are.
