We'll be the hottest team in the country and everyone knows (including the media talking heads) that we got screwed with LSU.

We'll sneak in at #12. - Flame away.

Not sure about that, depending on how many 2 loss teams there are.

BUT

I don't buy the "everybody knows" thing. We have 3 losses. Cone decision time, the LSU game will still count as a loss.

First let's beat Vanderbilt.

I don't think it's out of the question that a 9-3 SEC team could sneak into the playoff, but that team would need help. There are eight SEC teams ranked, and nine SEC teams ahead of us in the AP poll (counting Missouri at 26). Of course, we play Vandy and Missouri, and already beat A&M head-to-head, so that would come into play. But we would need everything to break just right for that to even have the chance of occurring.

I have actually been curious if there is a scenario that we need on other SEC teams getting 3 losses, but have not had the chance to study it.

Can't make it with 3 losses.... Sucks, but true.
This is definitely not going to be true. A three loss team will make it, and I think it'll happen sooner than later. It could easily happen this year.

The playoff committee has a team with two losses (Alabama) at #11. There are three more two loss teams within shouting distance (A&M, LSU, Ole Miss). There are very reasonable scenarios that would put a 3 loss team into the playoff.

The fact that we are not currently ranked in any Top 25 is very telling. They don’t want a 3 loss team in.
