popularity of the sport not included - Joe Moorhead or Nicki McCray. Discuss.

McRay. We had played for 2 nattys and made the Elite 8 in the 3 years before she got here and it got destroyed overnight. At least if was "fresh'.

McCray was the bigger miss. I'm not sure I can say one thing in program got better when she got here.

Joe at least recruited fairly well, although that can certainly be challenged.

"Well that would be hard to say, sir. They're each outstanding in their own way."

I'm going with McCray. We all knew WBB would fall apart the day Vic left and her hire just put us further behind. I'm not sure anything positive came out of it.

At least with Moorhead the fanbase was excited until that Kentucky game... followed by losing to Florida. But even after that we had some glimmers of hope (beating Auburn and A&M) and won two egg bowls. So I mean... considering other bad hires we've made over the years, it could have been worse. The frustrating thing about the Moorhead hire to me was that we all know the 2018 team could have won 10 games or more under a competent coach.

Moorhead. He pooch screwed what could have been a championship-caliber team in 2018 and in less than two years pissed off the Bob's from Bogue Chitto all the way to the Cigar Boys. Plus Football>>>>>>Women's Basketball, and that's just not debatable.

The teams personal social media definitely went off the charts, as did dance skills.

Moorhead...

What do you think is worse - a dent in the fender of a Cadillac or totaling out a 20 year old Ford Escort?

At the end of the day, football feeds the bulldog and women's basketball is just women's basketball.

ETA - I will admit I am biased. I'll never forgive Moorhead for squandering that 2018 team. I think from top to bottom it was the most talented team we have ever had - a defense that was full of draft picks and the best rushing QB in SEC history in terms of yardage.

Moorhead is the bigger miss.

He had two seasons and I thought he didn’t work because ultimately wasn’t a good fit.

McCray ultimately gets an Incomplete because of her medical issues. I think there would have been improvement in her second season had she been in charge. And there were a lot of folks here who turned out to love her bench coach/season interim head coach.

Are you kidding we went from championship contender to **** show in one season?

If Moorhead didn't have that defense we had he would have won 2 games................... this was a draw

McCray and it’s not even debatable. Moorhead was fired for what happened off the field more so than what happened on the field. Hadad could have taken the roster that Vic left and won more games than Nikki did. No offense Hadad but those young ladies could have self coached themselves and done better.

Moorhead because screwing up football has more of an impact. NMP didn’t do well but to be fair to her, Vic left behind a roster of divas and team cancers even though they were very talented. She at least left us with the Hayes sisters and Jerkaila Jordan and brought in Novak on staff when it was clear what she did he first year didn’t work

Moorhead by far ...McRae is a great coach who inherited a locker room in turmoil from a coach's misconduct ..throw in not being able to meet her team in person for six months, and sadly while few are willing to admit..there are way too many in our fanbase that held her politics and race against her. She was never given a fair chance.

Nikki took over what was probably a Sweet 16(ish) team in 2020 and didn’t make the tourney in 2021.

Moorhead took our middle of the pack, mid-level bowl team and was canned after 2 years of being middle of the pack and going to mid-level bowls. And now his successor, who everyone universally agrees is a far better coach than Moorhead, has us as a middle of the pack, mid-level bowl team.

Not really close.
