Today is my 80th birthday.
As my old coonass buddy says "you have seen the monkey and heard the owl."
If anybody knows what that means please let me know.

Happy birthday.

Essentially, it means you have gained world experience and originally implied great cost in gaining that knowledge. I’ve heard it as “seen the elephant and heard the owl”, but I’m sure the meaning is the same.

Not far behind you.....just turned 78. Don't know what the coonass quote means either.

Happy Birthday! My Father-in-law was a huge State fan and he just passed away two weeks ago in Florida. He was 93 years young.

I wish you many more birthdays.

Dang, Scotchie - you've even got me beat! Congratulations, and happy birthday!

Don't give up - you can still do a lot of things. For instance, last week I had my best round of golf ever with a 66. From the senior tees granted, but still - 9 under my age.

Phrase originally used in the 19th century for when one faced a major life-altering event. Commonly said about Civil War soldiers who endured combat. You were in Vietnam, so it definitely applies to you.
