one of the more unsatisfying wins in recent memory
I know what you mean. Sorta like that sophomore outa Sims in ‘74. A dead fishone of the more unsatisfying wins in recent memory
Yes, but the discouraging part is that there was little discernible talent gap between us and a team in their first year of FBS.How much better than it looked with a couple minutes to go though?
They were driving for a tie, or to take the win?
Winning ugly is so much better than losing a game like this. Even if it's against a patsy.
If you are right about that, then we are in worse shape than I thought.Yes, but the discouraging part is that there was little discernible talent gap between us and a team in their first year of FBS.
Winning means the motivation for a bowl is still dangling out there like a carrot.
Losing would have really put a damper on the team emotionally and I would have hated to see what it would have produced going forward.
That’s true. Just looking at where we are as a program in light of this game. First year in FBS and they came into WB and gave us everything we could handle.Winning means the motivation for a bowl is still dangling out there like a carrot.
Losing would have really put a damper on the team emotionally and I would have hated to see what it would have produced going forward.
Though, I have to add, we are only bowl eligible from a mathematical perspective. We’re not beating UK and probably not Clemson. Just not. Even though the outcome was different from the previous 4, the Jax only served to confirm what thiose games showed us about this team.Winning means the motivation for a bowl is still dangling out there like a carrot.

Exactly. HBC said that many times after ugly wins here. The goal is to win. Period. Not win pretty, not cover the spread. Just win. We won, and I’m choosing to be happy about that. Some people want to get pissed off after a win. Whatever. Be miserable. How much better than it looked with a couple minutes to go though?

That’s fine…they’re going home losers. That’s true. Just looking at where we are as a program in light of this game. First year in FBS and they came into WB and gave us everything we could handle.
Soft is the key word.Exactly. HBC said that many times after ugly wins here. The goal is to win. Period. Not win pretty, not cover the spread. Just win. We won, and I’m choosing to be happy about that. Some people want to get pissed off after a win. Whatever. Be miserable.
It wasn’t pretty, and we’ve got plenty to improve on. But when we needed to, we made huge plays to win the game.
Having said that, Beamer HAS to make some changes this off-season. This team is looking more and more soft. And that’s difficult to reverse quickly. If he doesn’t address it this year, he won’t get 6 years.
Who knows. This could be the same kind of wake call as the FL game was last year. Except we won.Though, I have to add, we are only bowl eligible from a mathematical perspective. We’re not beating UK and probably not Clemson. Just not. Even though the outcome was different from the previous 4, the Jax only served to confirm what thiose games showed us about this team.
UPC had it won handily and tried to give it back to ND.I am just glad we won the game. I have been worrying about Jackson State especially since Rich Rodriguez has been their Coach.
I was just hoping please not another. embarrassing lose to a team that shouldn't have been able to play with US or an SEC football Program.
Glad Mizzou lost too. Dreaded taters beat the Irish. That stunk.
I didn't get to watch the taters. Taters probably had some home cook'in.
Yes, better to win than lose. But anyone watching the game could tell there was not a hairs breadth of difference in the talent level between us and them. That is rather deflating.Better to win than to lose. We were ripe for a disastrous loss but averted it. Our odds of breaking even are still long, but they are not gone.
Most of the fans I'm talking to who were at the game, and some who watched on TV, are of the opinion that they were about to beat us but served the game up to us instead. I'm in no position to say as I was occupied elsewhere.Yes, better to win than lose. it was not as if they just caught us on a down day. The way we played is exactly who we are.
We won fair and square, no question, but it does seem that it could have easily gone the other way. Most of the fans I'm talking to who were at the game, and some who watched on TV, are of the opinion that they were about to beat us but served the game up to us instead. This statement might convey that ND was a passed out co-ed rather than a top 15 team. ND had a hand in their destiny.UPC had it won handily and tried to give it back to ND.
Notre Dame's default status is that of "Overrated".This statement might convey that ND was a passed out co-ed rather than a top 15 team. ND had a hand in their destiny.
Oh, it's lamentable. We won fair and square, no question, but it does seem that it could have easily gone the other way.
For me, I’m less focused on the outcome of the game than what the game as a whole signifies about the state of the program.
This. This! 1000x THIS!!!Notre Dame's default status is that of "Overrated".
That's only true if you can't multitask.Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy spent
Maybe Tanner has gotten so fat that he can now pass for 3 stooges in one?If you are right about that, then we are in worse shape than I thought.
And if you are right......Liberty won today. They are 8-0. Chadwell is on his way to winning big at his 4th school. How in hell did we let him get away? Unbelievable. The Three Stooges are alive and well on the USC BOT. smh.
