I am just glad we won the game. I have been worrying about Jackson State especially since Rich Rodriguez has been their Coach.

I was just hoping please not another. embarrassing lose to a team that shouldn't have been able to play with US or an SEC football Program.

Glad Mizzou lost too. Dreaded taters beat the Irish. That stunk.

I didn't get to watch the taters. Taters probably had some home cook'in.

How much better than it looked with a couple minutes to go though?

They were driving for a tie, or to take the win?

Winning ugly is so much better than losing a game like this. Even if it's against a patsy.
Yes, but the discouraging part is that there was little discernible talent gap between us and a team in their first year of FBS.

if this was a down game in a overall ok season that’s one thing. But it’s just confirmation that we are what we’ve shown. It ain’t injuries. It ain’t going up against a bunch of 5* players. It ain’t a tough road environment. All the excuses are dead, null and void.

If you are right about that, then we are in worse shape than I thought.

And if you are right......Liberty won today. They are 8-0. Chadwell is on his way to winning big at his 4th school. How in hell did we let him get away? Unbelievable. The Three Stooges are alive and well on the USC BOT. smh.

Winning means the motivation for a bowl is still dangling out there like a carrot.
Losing would have really put a damper on the team emotionally and I would have hated to see what it would have produced going forward.

That’s true. Just looking at where we are as a program in light of this game. First year in FBS and they came into WB and gave us everything we could handle.

Though, I have to add, we are only bowl eligible from a mathematical perspective. We’re not beating UK and probably not Clemson. Just not. Even though the outcome was different from the previous 4, the Jax only served to confirm what thiose games showed us about this team.

Exactly. HBC said that many times after ugly wins here. The goal is to win. Period. Not win pretty, not cover the spread. Just win. We won, and I’m choosing to be happy about that. Some people want to get pissed off after a win. Whatever. Be miserable.

It wasn’t pretty, and we’ve got plenty to improve on. But when we needed to, we made huge plays to win the game.

Having said that, Beamer HAS to make some changes this off-season. This team is looking more and more soft. And that’s difficult to reverse quickly. If he doesn’t address it this year, he won’t get 6 years.

Soft is the key word.
Watched a lot of football today and our defensive coaching is lacking in many ways but most importantly we lack that swagger I saw in many winning defenses I saw today which is instilled by the defensive coaches. We are not getting that from the current defensive staff - a change is desperately needed.
Our guys do not have the mental toughness and killer mind set to win their individual battles which is the formula needed for a winning team.

Who knows. This could be the same kind of wake call as the FL game was last year. Except we won.
We can hope anyway.

UPC had it won handily and tried to give it back to ND.

Better to win than to lose. We were ripe for a disastrous loss but averted it. Our odds of breaking even are still long, but they are not gone.

Yes, better to win than lose. But anyone watching the game could tell there was not a hairs breadth of difference in the talent level between us and them. That is rather deflating.

it was not as if they just caught us on a down day. The way we played is exactly who we are.

Most of the fans I'm talking to who were at the game, and some who watched on TV, are of the opinion that they were about to beat us but served the game up to us instead. I'm in no position to say as I was occupied elsewhere.

We won fair and square, no question, but it does seem that it could have easily gone the other way.

For me, I’m less focused on the outcome of the game than what the game as a whole signifies about the state of the program.

College FB ebbs and flows for 60 minutes. 13 minutes of live action per game....

Maybe Tanner has gotten so fat that he can now pass for 3 stooges in one?
