Other players entered the portal and are staying with their current team through the end of the season. One example is a smew QB. He will be on their roster for the PSU game. Why couldn’t Beau stay at PSU through the playoff? My guess is that he‘s gone after entering the portal because Franklin wanted him gone.
Didn't Franklin already explain that he thought Beau was distracted during practice and was a team distraction per feedback from other players?
When Pribula soon signs with Indiana, tell me that was not the underlying urgent reason for leaving Penn State early and giving up the chance to play for the national championship with your teammates. Hurts us and helps a possible playoff opponent in the semis. Just sayin'.
I read this earlier and have to believe that the writer doesn’t have the whole story but why should that stop him from writing? This was not a casual choice by Beau and there were many issues involved that the writer didn’t address because (shockingly) he didn’t know about them. Writers have to write. They don’t have to be right. Most Penn Staters learned that about a decade ago.
That seems to be Franklin's policy - go to the portal and you are off the team.
He wants to start for a team next season. The blowhard that wrote the article fails to consider that if we make it to the Championship Game on January 20th, the next semester will have started so he wouldn't be able to transfer to another school until summer sessions. He wouldn't be able to attend Spring practice with his new team and would be way behind in the Fall. Also, combine that with the fact teams are filling their QB positions up right now through the portal and you better get with a team quick if you want a spot or you're going to be left on the outside or playing for a MAC team.

Exactly. It's a big game of musical chairs right now...you've got a bunch of QBs looking for homes, and a bunch of schools looking for a QB to lead them. It it possible that he can still find a "chair" if he sticks with PSU and starts looking after the season is complete? Sure...but he's greatly limiting the number of chairs available to him (and the "best" options for him), and hurting his chances of getting one of those coveted chairs.
I wish he stuck it out, but I can't find fault with him making this decision. Sometimes, you need to be a little selfish, and he believes this to be one of those times.
If college is all about setting yourself up to be successful in life, and he lands as a starter for a SEC or B1G team next season, he certainly will have done that, selfishly or not. Either way, I really think dates are going change for next year so this doesn't happen again.
The SMU QB is likely betting on his season being over on Saturday.

This is the biggest piece of horsesh*t I've read. Writer says Beau can do whatever he wants, then says:

Heck no the writer does not have the entire story here. He fundamentally does not understand how the portal works. A player like Beau is not able to go out on the market and "negotiate" as the writer anticipates. This isn't Dillon Gabriel or Cam Ward going out to the highest bidder. This is a player who will have opportunities, but not the leverage the writer suspects. I'm sure Beau is being told that a few teams will approach him with an offer very soon, with the expectation the offer likely will remain open for a brief period of time. After all, you don't want your offer shopped and leveraged. You want the deal done and the message will be: "sign now, or we will offer the next guy and your spot is gone". Or, "sign now, or the amount will decrease as time goes by because QB slots quickly disappear". Beau would anticipate that once an opportunity presents, he will have to act quickly. Would we rather him quit two days before the SMU game?
When a player like Beau makes a decision to announce his intentions, he has to be prepared to act quickly. Surely any sense of Beau being "distracted" at practice is due to his situation relative to potential suitors. IF you're Air Noland at tOSU, you have time and more teams willing to wait on you. Beau's decision clearly is in recognition of his personal situation.

If PSU plays Indiana in a semifinal, do you not think we would be better off with Beau? I do, especially if Allar gets hurt prior to that. You don't make sense.
Nobody here wanted him to go, he didn't want to go, but he wants to start next year. He needs time to visit, work out compensation, and get enrolled when most universities are shut down hard after Friday. Either you're that dumb that you don't understand this or you just want to be 80 year old troll....either way you come off as dumb as all hell. Again PSU has some of the worst fans around...congrats on being one.

I don’t have a lot of concerns about Franklin, and I’m certainly NOT concerned that Franklin doesn’t really think through these kinds of issues!
Of the schools on that list, Ole Miss and UCF sound the most enticing for him in my opinion. Frost is back at UCF and he had some good QB production at UCF in the past. Going to Missouri would be a kick in the teeth for Matt Zollers….oh well.
I'm not sure that Zollers will be ready to start in the SEC next season as a true Frosh. Pribula might be a nice gap stop.
