Hindsight is 20/20 but we'd be better off by keep Z and staff and look for someone competent now. Lenny just doesn't have IT. Dan had it; Joe/ Sly didn't. Not sure how many ppl are gonna buy in for S tickets w/Lenny still roaming the sidelines. Still the bigger problem is AD...Salmon should go with him

The reason we are in our current situation is because of constant coaching turnover.

Lebby is here for 2 more years minimum. Maybe 3 more and should be.

Nothing is guaranteed. Go 3-9 next year and he’s gone. It’s one thing to lose while showing improvement. This team regressed. Nothing gives you hope for next year.

Normally I’d say he needs three, but you have to have improvement next year to get three. I can’t see him getting a third if we go 3-9/0-8 next year.

You're delusional. With portal transfers unlimited no coach gets 3 years if they don't show measurable improvements in 2. They are history unless there's weird circumstances after 2. You are saying that you are willing to let Lebby have another year of 2-10 plus another year and maybe another one too, even with restocking the roster with transfers? Sorry, that's not happening. Is it fair, maybe not but you aren't getting 3 or 4 years with unlimited transfers available

And the transfer portal works both ways. Players come in and players go out. Players aren't staying for schools, they are staying for coaches. Fire a coach every 2 years and we will be starting from ground zero.

Saban wouldn’t do better with the cards State has been dealt. This year has been painful but so was last year. Last year should have been better than what it was, but that year was the definition of poor coaching. I’m willing to be patient and see what Lebby does during offseason and next season.

He was a mistake hire just like Moorhead and Arnett. You do not compound a mistake by letting the mistake clip you for $11 million more dollars over the next 2 years with similar or slightly better results. 6 wins are pack your crap and go be an analyst for Ole Miss!

Lemmy is going struggle to build this team into something respectable. Much less good. Selmon is not gonna fire him. And yes we really need to stop the turnover. Next year will be marginally better than this year IF they can hold onto our good players and add some difference makers on defense. Otherwise we are gonna be like the Jews. Wandering around in the wilderness for years.

The mistake wasn't Lebby necessarily. The mistake was not hiring a HC that could bring players like Cignetti did. Cignetti brought 13 players from James Madison.

Had we hired Barry Odom & he brought 15 UNLV players, we'd absolutely be in a better spot right now.

Had we hired GJ Kinne & he brought 15 Texas State players, we'd absolutely be in a better spot right now.

With how the portal works & all the tampering, a new coach has to bring players with him or the output of players won't match the input.

In this portal era, you have to hire HCs or promote from within like we did with Arnett. You can't hire an outside assistant without your roster going to zero before rebuilding.

My issue has less to do with Lebby & more to do with the lack of foresight in the hire

Yep, too Many programs are turning it around after one portal class, certainly two. you have to have a vision, blueprint, know how to evaluate and build a program. I don’t think this coach has that. Probably due to a lack of experience.

It is true, but you must also have coaching to put those players in the right places every weekend. It's tough to tell if we have either this season.

Well we can always wonder what if we had taken Sark instead of Leach and now wonder if we had taken Odom (who I thought was gaining steam) instead of Lebby.

I still didn’t hate the Lebby hire but didn’t like the DC hire and still say that he didn’t bring a single ex Oklahoma or Bama player with them - that said something

Exactly. In the right situation. Lebby could be a good hire. But not coming off of firing a coach after 2 season. We desperately needed an experienced coach in our situation. We’re paying the price for Selmons stupidity.

Also the stupidity of Keenum for allowing it. Keenum could've just as easily had foresight at Selmon

The assistant coaches don't bring players. Only the HCs have been able to bring a coach.

Our list of candidates should've been:

Cignetti
GJ Kinne
Odom
Sumrall

Those 4 guys would have us in a better spot, not because they're better coaches than Lebby but because they would've brought players.

Keenum 17ed this up at least twice. Arnett & Selmon. And our academic rankings are at an all time low.
Keenum needs to stop outsourcing these hires to people who don't have any skin in the game at MSU.

Keenum has to realize that the football program can't be sacrificed & mature decisions, that protect the program, have to be made. Keenum should've never allowed an assistant to be hired under the circumstances.

If they're transferring because of the coach, do you want to keep him around?

Well that might work for 1 year, but you can’t build an entire program on the guys your hire brings in from his previous gig. The new guy has to be able to work the boosters and the portal to sustain success over 3-5 years.

Cignetti’s a terrible example because we’d still be scratching and clawing for 5 wins even with his JMU guys. Better than we are now? Sure. But still not very good. Odom with his UNLV guys? Same deal.

I'm tired of this BS, Joe was in over his head arrogant and lost control or the team (only experience as coordinator), Leach like him or not had us winning (head coaching experience), Arnett hired him bad decision not ready (only coordinator experience), Lebby Selmon's buddy had opportunity to bring on experience on defensive side of ball didn't do the right thing now we are in a mess (only coordinator experience). I see a pattern I'll give you a hint (look between these to see it)!!!! Give me a 17ing break about we have to keep him. We need to hire someone who knows how to be a head coach, not on the job training!!!!!!

Dan was a coordinator with no head coaching experience and turned out to be our best coach ever. So your argument doesn't really hold up.
