We've signed the last 2 MS Gatorade players of the year, and both are QB's.

We will have 2 capable QB's on the roster for the first time in a long time, and even though Favre may be 5' 10'', the kid can play football. We will see what he does in the SEC, but at least we've signed 2 QB's in the last 2 years that are capable of running an offense effectively. I think Mullen will continue to go get receivers that are tall enough to help neutralize the lack of height by Favre. We will have Johnson and Johnson, Michael Carr, hopefully Maudrecas Humphrey, and Ricco Sanders, all of which should be here when Favre is a senior. Mullen will get more WR's, and we will be ok. And he's just 18, so he may still have some growing left to do.

but we have to start somewhere. Orgeron left a shitload of talent on that team for Nutt to use. We haven't had near the level of talent come in that Ole Miss has, so we have to start somewhere, and I think that us getting the 2 best players in the state the last 2 years at the most important position on the field is a huge step forward for us.

b/c it seemed like every thread led to some question about whether we'd rather be in the cotton bowl.

Sherrod, Mitchell, Russell, and Favre. It's safe to say, we have put a fence around the GPOY.

And never forget that Scottie Pippen grew 7 inches in college. Never forget that.</p>

Just for the hell of it I'll say Russel was in fact the best player last year in this state though I don't believe he was ( I think many players were better including bumphis, cox and Boyd among others so it's not simply an om bias) are you also stating favre is the best player in the state or did misunderstand your comment? And if your saying you got the two best qb's in the state the past two years I'll agree with that but that also doesn't mean either are worth a damn in the grand scheme of things especially the new midget.

I shook hands with Lee after a recent game, paying close attention to height, to me he was 5'9 1/2", so an inch and a half.
Tonight I watched part of the game Farve played in...he is a good athlete...but he had a pass tipped at the line, and intercepted, reminding me of Lee.
I hope he is a backup...otherwise God help us.
I do like the idea of him being our short punter, with a pass option.

Yeah, because that is worth a scholarship. There is no way on Earth Mullen is offering him to be a "short punter, with a pass option."

the gatorade player of the year is a real award. for instance, i may give you the urethrafranklin most embarrassing person that mississippi frats have to claim as their own, but everyone else would know its that guy on that video.

We are all caught up on a QB's height because our previous quarterback was short and was terrible. Well let me fill you in on something, Tyson didn't suck because he was short. He sucked because he wasn't talented enough to play in the SEC. He walked on for Christ's sake. There have been numerous short quarterbacks who are successful in college in the right system. Todd Reesing is just 5'10", Jeremiah Masoli is just 5'11" and I think Chase Daniel was under 6 feet as well and they all have had great college careers. Height is a bit of a factor but mostly it's about talent. Tyson just didn't have that talent and that's why he wasn't successful, not his height.

but the height situation stands, and I was not really impressed with what I saw on TV tonight.
Don't profess to be a recruiting guru, but have some concern if he is to be our #1 guy....maybe a good backup.

otherwise the punt deal has some real value.

That's the best response you could come up with? I'll ask again do you honestly believe favre is the best player in ms?

He is hard at work to be the next MSU QB!

I think the kid is like a shorter Keven Fant. He is just a gutsy "winner." I know Fant didn't win a lot of games at MSU, but the kid was a football player. I believe that Favre is the same, and it has little to nothing to do with his last name.

Newton was obviously target number 1, and Brunetti was either target 2 or 2A. Favre was evidently 2B or 3. Your staff would not offer him a scholarship to hold a clipboard.

First football game you've watched?

It was a tunnel screen and the LT threw a horrible no-block and the DE was in the passing lane (to the sideline - not the LOS). The INT was luck after the tip as the guy fell into the INT.

????

Just that Lee had numerous passes tipped, and intercepted.

Overall I think any QB we sign should be equipped to play in the SEC.

I watched the game earlier and I seriously believe Farve is shorter than Lee, I know it's hard to imagine it, but there is no way he is taller than Lee.

But hey, maybe you can use some of that revenue to finally install urinals in Davis-Wade.

Ole Miss didn't offer Russell because they knew they had no shot at him and you know that. I don't think his offer list was too big, but Saban and Spurrier sure as hell wanted the kid.
