What are you doing (if anything) for the eclipse?

We're in NY and a short drive get us into the area of totality. Packing up a cooler and have a prearranged parking spot not far from the Erie Canal to watch the show. Forecast is for pretty clear sky.

I had cataract surgery last week, on my right eye, with the left being done the Wednesday after next. I’m now 20/30 in my right eye without my glasses, used to be 20/800. I am doing nothing that could possibly f this up.

Standard stuff - a ritual of fierce face painting, throat music, dancing around an open fire, offering a virgin to the Gods and finish it all off with a crème brûlée.

standard Monday.
Where in the world can you find a virgin??

standard Monday.

You're offering BobPSU82 as a sacrifice to the gods?? What if they don't like scones and latte - flavored meat??? You could end the world with that possibility.

Normal day in the morning, afternoon some yard work now that it’s over 55 degrees, and take a peak a few times at the event.
In NW Ohio, we get almost total eclipse.
Nothing special for the day.

Not working, thanks to administrators extending our spring break by a day so we can watch the eclipse! Not sure if I’ll watch or not.

Traveled to suburban Buffalo. Hoping for clear skies, or partly cloudy skies, tomorrow, though the forecasts are not great for that to occur.

Here in Dallas it looks iffy from a cloud cover standpoint but extended family in town and we are headed to my country club for lunch and viewing.

I didn’t truly get the buzz about it until I decided to take an impromptu drive to Sweetwater, Tennessee to watch the 2017 total eclipse.

To me, it is one of nature’s most stunning displays. During totality, the sun turns into a black disc surrounded by a brilliant shining ring (the corona.) The ring seems to actively sparkle as the mountains and craters of the moon hide and reveal small bits of the light behind it. Insects and birds that are normally active only at dusk start singing. And anywhere you look toward the horizon, you get a 360-degree view that looks like the orange/pink glow of a gorgeous sunset.

Spent the night in Portland, Maine after a long drive yesterday. Hitting the road now up to Houlton to watch this one. The cloud cover is only supposed to be 11%. Really stoked for this day.

Currently cloudy in Happy Valley, not expecting to see anything. I don't get the hype. I do have a pair of approved sunglasses and will go outside to check it out....if I remember. I think we are in the 95% zone.

It was cloudy in 2017 in these parts as well. Just saw a cloudy version of it thru the approved sunglasses.

Hey, I'm glad you can find the majesty and wonder in it. I can't. I've seen them before. Unimpressed. My kids viewed the last one when they were "little" (under 10), complete with their safety glasses (unlike certain adults who couldn't figure it out). I was hoping I'd see the wonder in/through their eyes. They were totally unimpressed, too. We get at least 20 sunsets a year that are far more impressive ... rainbows are cooler ... heck, certain cloud formations are neater. And certain moons during the year.
