Don't know if I'd say the most, but I do hope saying "Hail State" to other fans, eventually sticks permanently. We need something like that.

Least? Probably the need for so many in the fanbase to get affirmation from other fanbases, and police what is cool and what isn't. We definitely need more diversity (not talking woke stuff, just more of thought), but it's getting there. Is this a tradition? No, but it's something I've seen from State fans forever until maybe just lately.
I see it happen here in DFW any time I see a State fan…. The day after we beat UConn in the final four, a young Chick-fil-a worker saw my shirt and said “Awesome win, Hail State!”. She wasn’t even a State fan, so I’m glad to see it’s become known.

Least:

AHHHHAAAYYYYCH - O - L -D, hold that line ....
Mic man
Rushing the tempo of the fight, fight, fight, Mississippi State, Damn Right cheer. That $h!+ pisses me off to no end.
Mic man…. 🤣🤣🤣. I’m glad that one didn’t make it past 2000. That was cringey.

I think we have too many white fans with no rhythm that butcher the cheer. Maybe the band could keep playing or something…. It’s an epidemic for sure. But I’ve heard more than a few rushed rammer jammers, as well.

Exactly.

And that leads back to my second point.....if you see a State fan b*tching about Hail State, it's most likely that they are one of those people who cares entirely what other people and fanbases think.

Least #1, by far - MaroonWhite cheer during pregame
Least #2 - Bad to the Bone song

Most - when that garage door opens slowly and the players walk out
I HATE the bad to the bone song.

I like the "we're going to beat rye hell out of you" before the game and "we just beat the hell out of you" after the game.

One I haven't seen mentioned...

one of my favs is the "Go State, Go State!" Fan fare.

Chiming in on "Hail State", as an older fan that said "Go State" as a greeting. I like Hail State better as a greeting. However 9 of 10 I usually receive back awkward looks and a Go Dogs. Come on people, Hail State!!!.

I absolutely HATE Maron/Whit cheer, especially at baseball games. Because us usually one guy says maron and the people next to Him say whit! It’s clownish. And maroon was Bugs Bunny’s favorite description of loser characters.

No wrong answers. Doesn't have to be an 'official' tradition. Controversy allowed.

And I fully expect someone's to be polls like this one. Just getting in a pre-emptive post.

Mine are;

Most - State in Omaha

Least - maroon white chant
Least favorite tradition is how much we complain about our traditions. Literally every school in the SEC has some call and response chant like “Maroon/White” (e.g., “Game/Cocks”) or a three syllable annoying cheer (e.g., “L-S-U”), but ours sucks for some reason.

Most favorite may be the cowbells, although I’m really over them at games and way over them outside of the stadium. I like them more on the shelf . #old

Most - Go to hell ole miss after the prayer prior to national anthem

Least - Cowbells. Were fine in the 80s and 90s when had to be sneaked in. Now everybody has one, and the thrill of breaking the rule is gone.

Least by a wide margin is MW cheer. Awful.
Second least: timing of some of our baseball fans who start the MW cheer

Most favorite: cowbells at football, a legit bulldog mascot, listening to the bell tower, msu fans taking over omaha, huge crowds at the dude

Least favorite:
-Glad I'm not the only one who hates the m/w cheer. I'm ok with it starting during a game by the fans, but seems so lame doing it pregame.
-Sadly the cowbell SNL skit is getting a little old. But it does fit well. I'm kind of on the fence about that one.
-Do we still play who let the dogs out? I tune it out if we do.
Still like it but it needs a re-edit to shorten and sharpen it up a bit (and I won't get started on the sound system). I will say they did a great job of cutting it into the Sweet Dreams video with Farrell playing right along with the song.

"Don't Stop Believing" is too closely associated with the Clintons for my taste. Hated that song ever since Bill was elected
Dan Mullen used "Don't Stop Believing" Journey 1981 - before the fourth quarter
The Clintons used "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow" - Fleetwood Mac 1977 - when he first ran for President

Very different songs, very different artists, very different usage, and different people (but equally dislikable.)

IMO, our fight song is top notch. Notre Dame and Memphis have good ones too. Hail STATE is here to stay and I like it. I like seeing STATE gaining steam as well.
I cringed when our fans in Virginia were chanting "SEC" at the baseball regional we won. Hope I never see / hear that again. And speaking of VA, I still hate we didn't let Grisham's son walk on. I hope we don't let 17 ups like that become a tradition.
LFL, DNF and attendance records are great traditions. And let's not forget our Cheese.

Thank you for clearing that up. Reading those other posts made me think I was having a stroke.

In no order, here are a few -

Most
- Dawg Pound Rock (never forget the '99 Egg Bowl)
- Chimes and music from the Chapel of Memories (specfically "Hail State")
- Hank Flick annoucning basketball
- Some of our vintage logos that never got a chance to have long lives (1959-1979)
- "Maroon, White, Bulldog Blitz" chant with the signs (early '80s)

Least
- "Maroon-White" chant. It is vanilla and always ends weak (like most of our pre-game)
- Helmets and logos - We always have to change something every 2-3 years. No consistency
- "Hail Hydra".,.errrr... "State" (and NO hastags)
- "Bad To The Bone" and Bully riding a "Bone"-mobile (smh)
- Driving to Jackson to see MSU play football games

This is the best performance of the Dog Pound Rock

May be one of the best clips ever in MSU history and two quotes I'll never forget --

"Man wide open!......CJ Cirmones!....Touchdown!"

"And the Dawg Pound Rock...(uh oh)....I gotta say...that is the best thing going" (and it really was)

Most: The cowbell, and watching opposition cover their ears in the statidum
Least: Definitely the maroon white fight fight fight cheer. just horrible
Least2: That silly dance the football team does on the sideline after scoring right before taking the field to kick off
Least3: The lack of interest and sheer laziness of MSU grads across the US where we have active chapters and won't get involved in chapter activities. When LSU fans have 500 people, when vandy alums have 75-100 people, or kentucky alums have 200 at a watch party and MSU alums can't get 6-7 to show up, it's freaking EMBARRASSING.
I give you 7:12 in this video:

- Driving to Jackson to see MSU play football games

Yeah it could be a pain in the neck but parking and spending the night at the family’s Fondren house was good.

And then there was the time when the MSU buses with Highway Patrol escorts passed me on the Trace going around 70-75. I let them go ahead a bit and then followed them at the same speed.
