Clue: This is lacking in today's society....carries over to sports.

And we know this how? Because the talking heads and the good teams coaches say so? And is that to say that there are bad teams that don't have so-called "mental toughness?"
Read my op.....I posted this is what all good teams have in common. I highly doubt that ALL bad teams have mental toughness.

Fair enough. Since it's impossible to prove either way, I'd be willing to bet that some good teams overcome a lack of mental toughness, whatever that is, by an abundance of talent.

They may be good....but not great.

What I learned this weekend is that the good teams have offensive linemen who move well and block competently, as well as WR’s that actually catch the ball and create separation.

Great athletes at every position. Depth as well.

Lots of teams have talent.
if we measure the talent in terms of avg star rating on recruits, Penn State would be similar to UMich. OSU would be tier above both UM and PSU.

besides some good fortune/luck during the season with things like injuries, the QB position stands out. It appears the top teams throughout the year had strong dual threat QBs. this is actually what OSU has missed since Justin Fields. UMich has that type of QB now, but has not always had that.

OL and DL also seems to be common thread of top teams.

I dunno. Without the ability to define what it is or measure it, it's a moot point.
Ok fair enough. It's just my opinion. I have absolutely no proof of this. It is just my humble opinion.
Ah, but none of the others have mental toughness. I see.
Did you actually read my op? I posted that all good teams have mental toughness in common. That's not to say that all bad teams lack mental toughness. Some do of course. This is not based on fact....it's simply my opinion.

Yes I did which is why it was surprising that you dismissed more talent as a qualifying factor.

Did I dismiss it? I don't believe so. I simply pointed out ONE common characteristic. There could be two or three common characteristics. Just because I simply named one of these doesn't mean I dismissed others.
