When was Abdul "The Predator" Carter crowned with No. 11?

I remember seeing LaVar promoting Abdul for No. 11 on Twitter. Just wondering when people started to sense that we might have a special young talent on our hands in Abdul Carter. Steve Jones told a quick story on the tailgate show before last week's game. He said Carter was #22 in high school and really wanted to wear #22 at Penn State. He was told that number is off limits thanks to Heisman winning Cappy. "They" (don't think he specifically mentioned who "they" were) then told him of the meaning of #11 and the history of the number. Being that 11 is half of 22, Carter bought in.

To me it seems as though Carter’s freshman year was much more impressive than Parson’s freshman year.

Just my $.02, not attempting to insult Parsons. To me he was good at PSU (top 25-30) but certainly not great (top 10-15). But his final game, the bowl game, he was GREAT that afternoon…..he certainly saved his best game for his last game.

Agree. It wouldn't be a stretch to imagine that had Parsons played one more year at PSU he would have been dominant.

When was Carter crowned with "the predator" nickname? I never heard that before the MSU game. Was some announcer trying to create something?
