The previous time was the ‘90 Regional. We played them in the game before Burke Masters hit the grand slam against Florida State.

Our 1980 football team beat Illinois 28-21 in Champaign. We've played them one other time in football: 1923 . . . we lost 27-0 in Champaign.
I don't think we've ever played them in basketball.

17 all the haters, I LOVED that Wishbone offense! And that defense! 1980 was a GREAT year.
City of New Orleans out of Jackson wasn't it? Used to ride that as a kid to see the grandparents in central IL every summer.
