I also wouldn’t ignore surrounding cast either. How many of those other guys were our entire offense though? Only Bryant Johnson, and maybe ARob, on your list played on what I would consider a poor offense.

Also - only Engram and Butler are of similar stature. Clifford is hitting Dotson when he’s “Alabama wide open” because his route running is so filthy. These aren’t mcsorley jump balls he’s catching.

Lots to consider.
That is why he is so successful. He gets more attempts because we suck at running. Lol.

Special mention to GG for this catch alone

I think Top 3. IMO he's a faster version of Engram. Could you imagine this WR' corp if we would have been able to land David Bell? The B1G is loaded with ridiculously good WR's. SMH.

You like the cocktail I named for you? It’s basically an Orange Crush but still - all about B’more!

To me Jahan Dotson = Bobby Engram (in his PSU days). They play with the same smooth effortless style. They rarely drop a pass. Run nearly perfect routes. Are about the same size - Dotson (5'11" 183 lbs) Engram (5'10" 192 lbs). They each can run with the ball and make great decisions. They aren't flashy - they are polished pros.

My memories are slowly fading (sigh), but my general impression is that Dotson is as good a wr as anybody who's ever played for Penn State, at least since the mid-1960's. Great technique, great speed, good feel for getting open, really strong hands--seizing the ball with ferocity. I'd make it a tie with Bobby Engram as GOAT.

He's no Tony Johnson, but he's up there in the rankings. My top 3 are Engram, Robinson, Dotson

Most of what you said is true, but Dotson has increased his speed tremendously since his first couple of years in the program.

He has to be towards the top, right? At least arguably the best hands I’ve seen at PSU. Today’s performance, was Allen Robinson-esque. He was the difference between a win and a loss.

Thoughts?
Dotson has to be considered as a top 5 of all time, and frankly, case can be made for him being at top of list. The combo of his hands, route running, body control and quickness makes him an elite WR. And to boot, he’s incredibly modest and the ultimate team player. He’s destined to have a long and successful NFL career.
