So, it seems like a matter of when, not if, Scott Frost will be let go. Who gets that job? Nebraska has been a dumpster fire since firing Bo Pellini. Who would want the job? Trev Alberts is the new AD. Does he bring in another former Husker or go outside the program?

I get an unhealthy amount of entertainment out of Nebraska’s woes. I had a few laughs while watching the replays yesterday.

Nebraska has been a dumpster fire since they hired Bill Callahan. Their defense is a very pale imitation of the Black Shirts.
But I don't know how Nebraska handles this. They retained the guy and brought in 5 new coaches, despite what they say about the payout dropping in Oct,. firing him mid season would be a big mistake, IMO.
They probably should have cut him loose last season. If your record is 15-30 and debating what to do I think the answer is pretty obvious.
Trev Alberts has probably screwed NU football for at least the next 2+ years.

I think unless Carolina makes the playoffs or wins the division, Rhule will be out after the season. Maybe before if it is a disaster. Whether or not he would take the Nebraska job is debatable, but it seems like he belongs in college football. I’m at the point where unless Franklin gets PSU to the playoffs this year or beats Ohio State and Michigan, I’d be ok with parting ways. I appreciate what he has done. He took on something that was a severe up hill battle and made PSU respectable again. He’s also be a fantastic ambassador for the university. However, despite good recruiting, PSU seems to be getting further from the playoff instead of closer. If Franklin moved on, I would embrace the idea of Rhule to Happy Valley.

Fleck would make sense. Had some bad injuries last year but competitive with not tons of talent.

I hope Franklin and MY were watching. Hope spring eternal. This was year Frost turned it around. Franklin loses to PU and this post will be about next coach at PSU

Fleck seems pretty comfortable at Minny.

I don't see Fleck leaving Minny for Nebby. Maybe if the Auburn job opens up....more fertile recruiting territory. But then again, would
Auburn go outside the SEC/south again for a coach?

Hugh Freeze to Auburn would make so much sense. He’s a slimeball and they are desperate while living in the Tide’s shadow.

That is probably a better call for Auburn. I don't know if Harsin will be around next year.

So, there you have it - O'Brien to Nebby. Freeze to Auburn. Frost to Liberty. Harsin to pick up my dry cleaning.

I really hate to say this, but they aren’t the same since pounding that dam option every-other play!

With this Purdue game, never has the first game of the season been such a must win game for a PSU coach.

That’s actually plausible.
That would be a home run hire for them if it ends up being possible. I don’t think it’s totally out of the realm of possibility but it is pretty unlikely.

I think Leipold (prob spelling that wrong) or Klieman would be more realistic if either saw Nebraska as better than their current Kansas and Kansas State jobs.

If OB didn't like recruiting at Penn State he's going to hate the f*ck out of it at Nebraska.

Nebraska is not a desirable location for any established coach. If they understand that, at least they can begin to narrow their focus. Their options will be young up and coming coaches from non-power 5 schools, coordinators, or someone looking for redemption, like O'Brien. All of their recent hires have been disasters. Pelini is a Neanderthal, Riley was a fish out of water and Frost is in over his head.
Someone mentioned Fleck, why would he leave Minny? It is a better program than Nebraska. Some NU fans have mentioned Matt Campbell, but why would he leave ISU for Neb/ he has a better job now. Matt Rhule... if he is out of work after this season, given his reputation as a college coach, why would he take that job? Surely better jobs will become available if he sits out for a year.
Nebraska needs to understand who they are and find a coach who fits. For example, ISU poached Campbell from the MAC; Baylor poached Rhule from Temple; Cincy got Fickell, who was a top flight coordinator. Those should be the model for Nebraska IMHO.

The guy who lives behind me is a Nebraska fan. He told me yesterday (he had the game on in his driveway yesterday during a block party so I watched some of it) that if our o-coordinator has a good year UN might come calling. He also brought up the Kansas and Kansas state coaches which was why I brought up their names. At least he was level headed about the whole thing I guess.

Yurcich has been a career OC and I would think if he jumps to a HC for the first time it wouldn’t be somewhere like Nebraska where it would be a severe uphill battle from day 1 and where so many others have failed. But what do I know 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nebraska is still paying for getting rid of Frank Solich because they thought they could do so much better. Karma has been f n them ever since.
You are right. Solich was a good coach as was evident when he was at Ohio also.

Of course you would. I guess Carolina will fire him because he did such a great job.
