Why would we want a Conference USA Coach who has only made a regional 3 out of the 8 years he has been at this current school?I do think Lane Burroughs is a guy that people aren't mentioning as much as they should be. Lane would bring that toughness back to the program. He's probably a realistic candidate compared to a lot of the head coach names being thrown out. But, a lot of people would likely feel let down if he's hired because he's not a big name.
LA Tech does not have a great baseball history. Burroughs has won a lot of games there at a place that historically has not won.Why would we want a Conference USA Coach who has only made a regional 3 out of the 8 years he has been at this current school?
Because 3 of the last 4 years are the years LaTech has been to the tournament. You don't rebuild a crappy program overnight. Please do some research before posting. PS. I don't think Lane gets the job unless a lot of people say no.Why would we want a Conference USA Coach who has only made a regional 3 out of the 8 years he has been at this current school?
Let's not forget Mr I'm not going to Texas. Next day leaves to TexasYou might hear lists and top choices from the media over the next few weeks, but I doubt any leaks will come out of the search before the season ends. Every coach we would want will be leading their current team deep into the post season. We need to make a huge hire and a coach who has loads of experience in the post season, preferably with experience coaching a team in the south. (or around Louisville KY or Corvallis OR)
He has been relatively successful there for La Tech. He would have far more resources here than he has had at either La Tech or Northwestern State. By no means would he be at the top of my pie in the sky list. I don't think State will hire a sitting head coach unless they look to the mid majors. I'll gladly eat any crow if I'm wrong, but I just don't see it with all the craziness around rev share and everything else currently going on in college sports. Why would we want a Conference USA Coach who has only made a regional 3 out of the 8 years he has been at this current school?
I agree. He seemed impressed when he brought ND for a super so he has seen the potential in person, but why would he leave FSU?Link Jarrett
Forbes has spent his entire career in the State of North Carolina. Outside of 3 seasons at Winthrop, and I mean Rock Hill, SC is maybe 15 miles from the NC/SC state line. Yes, you go get him if he's interested, but that guy has the premier job in his home state. He's from the research triangle area too. So, I mean he is most likely home.Heefner at Dallas Baptist can obviously recruit and coach.
Would it translate to the SEC ? I don’t know.
He’s been there a long time too so may not have an interest.
Scott Forbes at UNC has been to 4 and now 5 straight Regionlas, SR, CWS last year and has them ranked 3rd right now.
I think the portal for baseball is going to be open Jun 2 through July 1. http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/eligibility_center/Transfer/DIUG_Windows.pdfYou might hear lists and top choices from the media over the next few weeks, but I doubt any leaks will come out of the search before the season ends. Yeah, but it isn't. Bakich has made some comments about attendance at Clemson in recent weeks. Could be a glimmer of hope, but most likely he'd use State to get a pay raise. If our job were as coveted as our fans think, we would go after Erik Bakich.
This. If the sky is the limit and money is no object, this is the guy.Link Jarrett
Yep. Still hoping for some blue haired boosters sell some stock and give.Sky is limit, but salary will be very limited

To be fair we had an AD that was hinting at it up to just short of the point of actually naming names.Remember last time our fans thought we were hiring Schlossnagle, McDonnell, or Tadlock?
And our fans still think we are shopping at Erewhon. To be fair we had an AD that was hinting at it up to just short of the point of actually naming names.
#1 on my listLink Jarrett
Just alternate calls back and forth to Godwin and Heefner until one of them realizes that their current program isn’t even going to exist anymore in 3 years.
This doesn’t have to be a complicated process.
