including the playoffs.

I need to confess that scenario crept into my mind last evening and has me believing, foolishly or otherwise.
A smidge is a very small amount. I have more than a smidge of optimism that we win the last 4. Maybe 2 smidges.

Maybe only one smidge that we can win 5 more games and no smidges that we can win the MNC.

Only a smidge because I keep having flashbacks of 1999 the minute my hopes get up.

Our receivers, collectively, have caught as many TD passes in conference games as I have. IF we make the playoffs we will be one and done.
"IF we make the playoffs we will be one and done."

I am always amazed by people who can predict the outcome of games when we don't know the teams that will be playing. You can make an absolute killing in Vegas.

I agree with you from a logical perspective. But this team will almost certainly have the worst receiving group in the playoffs and our record against top ten teams the last few years has shown that deficiency is fatal. You can't play top teams with half an offense. Take Warren away and we are impotent.

Before the season, based on having three new coordinators, and some potentially unsure positions, told by nephew it looks like a 10-2 season. I figured we lose to the $20 million dollar OSU team, and one of the away games, WV, USC or Wisky. There's a good chance we win out and I would have been real happy with 11-1 before the season, plus a possible home playoff game.

But you have to like our chances.

It’s amusing to me that PSU could, and very likely may, finish 11-1 and it’s doom and gloom by some of the fan base. If going into the season, you were told PSU would finish the season 11-1 with wins over WVU, USC, Wisky, Washington, etc, would you have been happy? Now, with that said, 11-1 will have to earned. Washington and Minnesota will not be easy.

I (we’ve) been perfectly clear what our problem with the program is. Don’t be obtuse.

I'm optimistic we will win our last 4 games and have a decent seed in the playoffs. If we play a lower seed at Beaver Stadium then I am optimistic that we will win our first game. After that, I think we are toast.

no outcome will ever be good enough
I don't believe that, despite a lot of pessimism evident. I have been waiting a long time for PSU to beat a team they are not supposed to beat. The narrative has been set and true for some time now. Beat the inferior teams and turtle against the top teams in the conference. And in some instances looking damn near overmatched in those marquis games. You are permitted to pull an upset or overachieve at some point. 3-17 against top ten teams and 12-25 against top 25 teams is not good enough.

Why since 2015? Go back to the 90’s. This is who PSU is. This trend is not new. I get the frustration. I really do. I was just as frustrated watching PSU lose 9 straight to Michigan from 1997-2007. This playoff format gives teams a fresh start though. Kris Petersen had a good take on the loss last week. The season isn’t over. There’s two more months of football left. The best teams will be the ones that learn from their mistakes and improve between now and then. We will see if our team improves or not.
