Actually if the committee would say they disrespected OM’s SOS and non-con so much that even if they were 11-1 they’d not be considered, that would be ideal. Also if they could do it while laughing and evil laugh.

It’s going to come down to whether the committee selects three ACC teams or four SEC teams. If they select four SEC teams, the fourth team will be Alabama. OM is out because they lost at home to Kentucky. SC is out because Bama beat them head to head. If Clemson wins the ACC championship game and gets the auto bid, committee can justify putting in SMU and Miami as ACC at-large bids. If Clemson loses, they’re out, SMU and Miami are in, and Alabama gets in as the fourth SEC team along with Texas, Georgia and Tennessee.

There isn't a path for SMU, Miami, and Alabama to all three get in.

Sure there is. Clemson loses the ACC title game, SMU gets the auto bid and Miami gets an at large. They only have two losses, after all.

Right, but Alabama wouldn't be in if SMU AND Miami are both in.

I assume the following are in as of today (not a ranking):
  1. Notre Dame
  2. Texas
  3. Oregon
  4. Penn State
  5. Georgia
  6. Indiana
  7. Tennessee
  8. Ohio State
  9. SMU
  10. Mountain West champ
  11. Big 12 champ
This is the answer. The 5 highest ranked conference champions get an auto bid. So SEC, BIG, ACC, and BIG 12 champs are in. The MWC has the 2 highest ranked G5 teams so that game is now an autobid as well. The only possible who shot JR drama is if Clemson beats SMU, then you might have a decision between SMU, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Miami. I have a feeling the committee will not punish SMU for losing a conference title game. So Ohio State and Tennessee are the bubble teams.

None of the vote eligible teams are getting in. Ole Miss will fall to the Music City bowl.

Ohio State and Tennessee are safely in at 10-2.

Ole Miss knew before the season due to their SOS that they were most likely borderline for making the playoffs if they lost 2 games.

Yuup, OM folks didn't think they'd win the conference or a natty, but they did expect to challenge for a playoff spot. They came to within a few plays of being undefeated, thank goodness Kiffin, Kiffined.

Is there a committee selection show on tonight? It's not listed on ESPN if there is. They have Syracuse/Tenn basketball game on. The final is this weekend, but I thought they'd have another ranking tonight.

Now that it has bean revealed ... if Boise State and SMU lose their championship games... will they fall out, below Bama in the rankings?

I think Boise, yes. Smu, probably too. Bama is in regardless.

Kinda surprised they didn't somehow make Alabama the home team so they'd have >100,000 in attendance vs. 77,000 in South Bend.

I hope we get to see what they’ll do if Clemson beats SMU by a field goal. I’m not convinced what will happen with the committee.
I think Clemson wins & SMU drops out. Their best win is 7-5 Pitt.

I’m sure Bama will make it because that’s how the world works, but it’s not encouraging if SMU is penalized for participating in their title game while Bama gets to jump them while sitting at home. Say what you want about the schedules, but that doesn’t sit well with me.

Crazy speculation here but ... Kentucky wasn't supposed to win at Oxford. Look at their record after that game. Wild.

They both fall out if they lose. Bama is in.
I think this is correct.

If Clemson beats SMU / Boise beats UNLV:

8) IU
9) Boise
10) Bama
11) Big 12 winner
12) Clemson

If SMU beats Clemson / Boise beats UNLV:

8) SMU
9) Boise
10) IU
11) Bama
12) Big 12 winner

If Clemson beats SMU / UNLV beats Boise:

8) IU
9) Bama
10) Big 12 winner
11) Clemson
12) UNLV

If SMU beats Clemson / UNLV beats Boise:

8) SMU
9) IU
10) Bama
11) Big 12 winner
12) UNLV

That’s every scenario. Bama is in, no matter what. Miami is out, no matter what. Everyone behind Miami that is done playing is out, no matter what. Its a 14-team playoff this year, and no need for a selection show except for the final seedings. The field is already decided.
